ChrisHProgress in porting Fab's OWB to OS420110129 16:46
As I've been busy programming, I've hardly been reading AW.net, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that Kas1e & co have finally made some tangible progress in porting Fab's OWB to OS4:
18 Jan
25 Jan
25 Jan (again)
29 Jan

P.S. It would of course be fab (*) if Kas1e also had the time to post such screen shots & videos on Amigans.net. (* = an unintentional pun, probably)

@ChrisH

I just not start thread there becasue its somehow starts on AW, and ppls wait progress here, so i write about progress on aw. But yep, better to continue here for sure. For now still many thinks to do, but some progress have place , i hope for something usable soon. In those links which you post there is all the actual info yep.

About time: its just few seconds to make screenthos and upload, but just somehow all starts on AW and continues.. For today anyway deniil and fab offline and i was busy with work-for-money, but right now will start to debug the stuff :) Also i not works on anything else for now, in hope that we can make more or less fast version for first tests. And it was not so fast anyway, you post only info of the last times, but everything starts 5-6 weeks ago. (for example that problem about Relocation36, it was exactly when i was on stage to build first binary with commented mui4 and morphos deps). Also was pretty nasty problem with porting of DoSuperNew (because i suck with mui), and tons of other, little (and not so little) problems was. If not Fab, i for sure giveup weeks ago :) And if not Deniil, all of this which we already have, can be not today, but after "2 more weeks". Cooperative work and such :)

And there is still tons to fix :)

Спасибо большое :-D

@kas1e

Thanks!! :-)

I guess one incredibly usefull and impossible (?) thing to have, would be a kind of MUI-ReAction wrapper.. lol :-)

kas1eRe: Progress in porting Fab's OWB to OS420110130 09:15  #1545
@amigo1

Everything possible, it just all about lacking of skilled developers who will be in interest to works on such things.
ChrisHRe: Progress in porting Fab's OWB to OS420110130 10:39  #1547
@amigo1
How about a GUI wrapper which can use both MUI & ReAction?
BillERe: Progress in porting Fab's OWB to OS420110130 11:12  #1549
@ChrisH

How about keeping it just MUI.

Reaction is OK for System Prefs but MUI is far better for full blown apps and the user has far more control of window positioning and custom screens.

Did you mean in general or for fab's owb ? Because for fab's owb that mess 100% not need it, and he even will not in interest to deal with it , and we with deniil for sure out of interest to write such compilcated, and point-less-time-consuming-wrappers. Better just write new browser from scratch based on OWB core. Even rewriting mui4 deps on mui3 its already not the easy task.

I am 100% sure , that on Reaction it possible to make full-featured browser, like done Fab with mui4, but as we do not have anyone who do it (or will do it) for now, then the easy way its just writing mui4 replacements, and be in sync with fab's code, which up2date and always in developing.

@BillE

Of course fab's owb will be mui only. I even not understand that ideas about needs to make such madness-mess with mui-reaction. Better just write new one, on reaction , or on mui3.9. But i think its all about "general" , not about OWB itself.

@kas1e

I have noticed that OWB does not work properly on openrouteservice.org.
While with Timberwolf alpha you can rightfully drag the map as also the start and ending points of a route, with OWB only the map can be moved. (OWB 3.30 here, OS4.1u2)

Is it the same on the version you are using?

Further than that, on both browsers the mouse pointer changes to ENVARC:sys/def_handpointer.info when dragging the map, that's as it ok IMHO.
when dragging the arrows, I think the mousepointer should (but ATM does not, even in Timberwolf) change to a "scroll pointer" ENVARC:sys/def_scrollallpointer.info.

That need to check on morphos to compare (maybe problems with rendering or kind), but in general, i think that OWB-core code of our reaction based owb are quite old, while even 1.9 version of mui owb more recent and pretty possible that if there is a bug, it was fixed (but need to check of course).

Nope. Reaction based OWB in last time was in develop by Joerg, and which sources of OWB-core he used (how old) - i do not know (not have his sources). But version on which we works, it version of mui based owb from morphos, which we try to port to aos4 (because its feature rich), and that version of mui-owb have more up2data owb-core code, so pretty possible that there is more bugs are fixed.

Its to early to worring about mouse-pointers (not the hardest parts), but yeah, after all the main parts will works, we can do cosmetic stuff.

@BillE

Is anyone working on extending Reaction so that someday it can completely replace MUI?

LiveForItRe: Progress in porting Fab's OWB to OS420110130 16:00  #1564
@Valiant

I think itís better to wait for MUI port to be done, once it done it should be possible to make Reaction GUI like the MUI one.
What type of GUI its using right now is defiantly not biggest issue.
TroelsRe: Progress in porting Fab's OWB to OS420110130 16:13  #1565
@LiveForIt
I think Valiant was thinking of ReAction improvements in general not in regards to OWB.
I would also like to know if there's plans to improve (significantly) on ReAction or if the plan is to use something else in the future?
rigoRe: Progress in porting Fab's OWB to OS420110130 16:28  #1566
@Troels

Perhaps starting a new thread with details of what needs improving might be an idea.

I see lots of threads complaining about how 'bad' "ReAction" is, but no-one has constructively started any discussions about just how, and where, the BOOPSI classes could be improved.

Pretty nice, well done boyz ! :-)

Did you solve then transparency and so problems on statusbar ?

@kas1e:

Wow, dude! This is really great news!

Maybe you need a bounty too? ;-)
kas1eRe: Progress in porting Fab's OWB to OS420110203 20:45  #1751
@samo79
Sort of , we replace it a bit for now

@alfkil
If fab not take money when he do all of this, then how we can get it when we do only port with help from Fab ? :) And anyway, we now at that stage, when its feels that all will be done and will rokz solid, so its now just about even our satisfaction :)
