This is an unexpected update as we`re waiting for mui owb.
|SMF||Re: OWB 3.31 released ||20110211 08:36 #2015|
Who released this update?
|samo79||Re: OWB 3.31 released ||20110211 08:40 #2016|
Joerg i think
|ChrisH||Re: OWB 3.31 released ||20110211 10:01 #2017|
|With MUI-OWB, I guess Joerg got his wish of someone taking-over OWB development on AmigaOS4, even if it wasn't his version which got used (I guess be careful what you wish for!).|
|kas1e||Re: OWB 3.31 released ||20110211 10:10 #2018|
|Unexpected, but cool.
I think maybe its TSK ? (he got the diffs from joerg). And as i know, Joerg not give him full code (only diffs) with saying "i not have full sources anymore".
|samo79||Re: OWB 3.31 released||20110211 10:22 #2020|
I don't think so as version say:
|OWB 3.31 (10-Feb-2011) OrigynWebBrowser Pukapuka SVN-r1466 built by
Joerg Strohmayer <email@example.com>
Would be cool aniway if he decide to restart it or if someone can take the flag, lot of bugs remain and lots or feature can be added :-)
|kas1e||Re: OWB 3.31 released||20110211 10:24 #2021|
Maybe Joerg download again webkit and merge with his backuped diffs .. But then webkit should be changed as well, but if not, then it mean he still have full-source, but by any reassons send only diffs to TSK :)
Yeah, will be cool if Joerg will works on GUI part on it for now, but .. well .. i personally not so care anymore, it was very hard to ask about features and dl-manager. And i already use mui-owb most of time (and soon hope many of us will).
|fairdinkem||Re: OWB 3.31 released ||20110211 10:28 #2022|
Very interesting with regard to it not being made mention of on Joergs website and there is no upload of it on OS4DEPOT.NET
|samo79||Re: OWB 3.31 released||20110211 10:34 #2024|
Don't know but i think he already have the entire source code, before this 3.31 i mean.
Aniway i believe that he release it only because the upcoming OS 4.1.2 for classic, if you read carefully the changelog the latest modifications seems related mostly to help slow machines.
BTW, when you complete your job on the MUI one, would be extra cool if you can try to compile this as well, as you have a proper working cross-compiler you can easly try to compile it and adding again all things that Joerg removed recently during latest 3-4 version, for example he remove SVG support, ICU is worse too, also you can add WebInspector adding a simple row in shell and so on ...
Also a download manager (aka 1 window with 1 gauge), 15 minutes of work, according to Joerg ;-)

Yesterday i tested WebInspector on mui-owb - it works already. You just set in the prefs mark "use webinspector", and then after you set it and press use or save, you have in your main context menu option "check by webinspector", when you press on it, new window are opens, with all the stuff. Through, not very fast works even on my peg2/1ghz, but well, its heavy pretty well. Also for now give one DSI on breakpoints, but i think all is fixable.
Dunno about svg support, is there any easy way as i can test it ? Just open some svg-image ?
Related to problem with reaction-owb, for now, joerg only give difs to TSK, not full source code. In last time when i contact with him (with TSK), he have a lot of problems with it, and that all because diffs from joerg can't be included easy to the current SVN of webkit (they also change layout of dirs pretty much). When i ask TSK that why Joerg not send you all the full source code with all the files, he say that Joerg just not have it anymore. But if that release was done by Joerg, and not by TSK, that mean .. :)

Very good :-)
When i ask Fab (some time ago) about it, he say that WebIspector is already availible on WebKit/OWB, and if i have understand correctly you need only to activate it during compile
See this suggestion in bugs.os4depot (and ehm ... the funny reply from Joerg)

I really don't know, maybe TSK misinterpreted him, i can't believe he lost the source, and even if it was true now he have it again, question remain aniway "why did he not sent to TSK" ...
|kas1e||Re: OWB 3.31 released||20110211 10:59 #2027|
Yeah, webinspector already in the webkit, and can be activated just by ENABLE/DISABLE (but you still need prefs for enable it , or just handle ENV). But yep, easy to enable. As i understand for now, webinspector its in general just bunch of JS scripts and images, which make archive itself only bigger, binary itself start to be bigger on a very little. And no one force user to use webinspector at all, if user have less ram, he can not use it ever. I see no probs here.
With SVG there is maybe different story, because for mui-owb fab also release first versions with svg and without svg, but looks like later just use it by default.
|samo79||Re: OWB 3.31 released||20110211 11:10 #2029|
Of course SVG enabled means the exe will become mutch bigger, Fab release 2 version (1 with SVG enabled and 1 without) only because Efika, but with SVG you can (for example) pass the Acid-Test 3 at 100% but also many other things mutch more usefull than a simple HTML ego test
Conversely Joerg remove it at all, so even if it can help on classic you can't use it anymore on faster machines, that's very sad ...
For the same reason he remove also somethings in ICU, so you can't show anymore "strange" font like Japanese or Korean
|TSK||Re: OWB 3.31 released||20110211 14:53 #2037|
|First of all I have nothing to do with this release (and didn't expect to see any).
If we discuss something in Email I consider that as private conversation which does not belong to any public discussion forums or outside of emails between two of us unless told otherwise. I guess there's not any harm done anyway this time.
|that all because diffs from joerg can't be included easy to the current SVN of webkit|
It's not necessarily quite like that. It looks like some AmigaOS specific files are completely missing (eventually). I'm not going to rewrite them all from scratch.
Also I have zero knowledge of Cmake and sometimes I can't understand how that cross compiling environment behaves irrationally as it does.
I was going to read my emails again more carefully but haven't had chance to do so yet.
Far east fonts works here.
|kas1e||Re: OWB 3.31 released||20110211 15:10 #2038|
That sad to know .. Maybe you can try to contact with Joerg one more time now, when he for sure have full source code ?
|LiveForIt||Re: OWB 3.31 released||20110211 15:17 #2039|
So you are coming to the same conclusions as I did.
It does not matter now, we are getting a browser that we can download files whit.

|Would someone care to explain how to use this archive. I can't figure out what xzminidec does if it's a 7z archive & xz doesn't work on owb.xz either. :-(
|cha05e90||Re: OWB 3.31 released ||20110211 23:31 #2056|
Let AmiUpdate do the install or have a look in the Autoinstall script... :-)
|sundown||Re: OWB 3.31 released ||20110212 00:03 #2057|
Thanks, that worked. I normally turn off autoinstall as I like to install by hand.

|Thanks whoever did the 3.31 version, probably Jeorg. Nice to see an update.|
