TrevorDGimp 2.4.7 startup problem20110321 15:13
Just installed the latest version of Gimp 2.4.7 on my Sam440ep. The earlier 2.2 version was working fine but the new version, although it appeared to install OK, does not startup when I click on the Gimp icon. Do I need to install any files or is this supposed to work "out of the box"?

It was out of the box for me. Still works OK. Maybe CygnusEd can help but he is probably very busy with finishing native AMP ;-)

Thanks for that. Maybe I'm being dumb? I've discovered it works fine if I start it from OS4, but if I try to start Gimp 2.4.7 from within Amicygnix via the desktop icon or the menu nothing seems to happen?

I don`t know about latest gimp on AmiCygnix but I just recently observed myself that apps like Stardict takes a lot of time 'till startup on my Sam440ep. That was not the case some months ago and I thought I must have misconfigured something :-) Maybe that`s your problem, too? Maybe just wait several minutes and it gimp will appear.

Thanks, but it just doesn't start from within AmiCynix but is opens fairly quickly if I start it up from AmigaOS4.

It starts from an icon here. I remember the very first time running Gimp 2.4.7 it took quite some time to load all plugins and start. But after the first time it starts fast now.

Please check, if the script flag of the script file "Start_gimp.bat" is set! The desktop icons and the menu will not work if this is not the case!

If you have performance problems, try to refresh the caches. For this please execute the script "Cygnix:S/Utilities/Refresh-ALL-Caches.bat".

Thanks, I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Correct, the script flag was not set by default. I set the flag and now Gimp 2.4.7 starts from both the Icon and menu in AmiCygnix. Donation on the way. :-)
