|JosDuchIt||select an application window and sent some keystrokes to it||20110321 20:19|
|I used "scripit " language to acheave the functionality above. Alas scripit does not work anymore under oS4.
Does anybody know an utility, or script doing this? No gui, just being able to iuse thsi from a script.
One selecting an application from the name of its window would be OK too.
Rawinsert can do the second part.

What about using ARexx? I don't know if workbench allows you to select any window open on it or only it's own.. I avoid ARexx (all the "" & '' combinations you have to use to get things working is a nightmare for me).
It should be fairly easy to write something that will parse the window list in the screens structure and acivate one that matches. I can't look on aminet atm as it's down:
You don't have permission to access /php5/php5.cgi/search.php on this server."

I have not been using arexx for quite some time. How do you get the screenstructure?

No idea with arexx, I'd do it in AmiBlitz, not that it really matters. have you tried http://aminet.net/package/util/cli/ActivateWindow by Daniel Westerberg?
If it no longer works at least he's still around to fix it :-)

Here is a WindowToFront program I wrote recently: http://thomas-rapp.homepage.t-online.de/downloads/wtf.lha
It lets you select a window by title or pattern. The first window which matches the pattern is used.
I've added an ACTIVATE option, so that it does what you want.

thanks for the hint
thanks for your utility, simple and just what i need.
As you programmed a lot of useful things (from looking at your website): did you ever looked at "scripit" Would be so nice if someone would try to make an OS4 version (OS3 not working, author not reachable)
