@Troels

I'm sure it's very nice, but all I get is an error "Unable to init icon editor, error: -6".

Snoopy doesn't show anything remotely associated in the way of fails.

@rigo

It works here at first try. Unpacked it to ram:, opened shell, typed "ram:", typed "stack 500000" and ran the program. Looks really good :-) .

This is with AOS 4.1 update 2.
kas1eRe: 32Bit Icon Editor bounty - release v1.1 ready20110103 18:49  #709
Very intersting ! sadly that i cant to test it for now.

Btw, if that error on which rigo point happens because of stack size , then imho stack cookie will help. Or maybe it something related to wrong initialization on 16 (or 32) bit screens ?
rigoRe: 32Bit Icon Editor bounty - release v1.1 ready20110103 18:49  #710
@hotrod

Strange, using your method results in the same error as above. Wierd.

Oh well.

@rigo

You can ignore the "stack" setting, I just type that out of old habbits.
rigoRe: 32Bit Icon Editor bounty - release v1.1 ready20110103 19:09  #712
@hotrod

I did when I tested it on my Sam Flex which has the public 4.1U2 release on it, and it worked. The toolbar images were missing, so I assume it needs AISS installed, but it worked OK.

So it looks as though it doesn't start on my beta system for some reason.

@all

work fine on normal 4.1.2.

Interesting. Hope he will become like iconian on AOS3.

@Troels

Having a bit of a fight with my A1 so haven't tested it myself yet, but keep in mind it's still WIP
RNS-Amiga-ClubRe: 32Bit Icon Editor bounty - release v1.1 ready20110103 23:07  #722
@Troels

Thanks! I noticed this thread after I uploaded the program for OS4Depot. It's waiting in the queue now. It doesn't differ much than the version available to download from that link. I made an icon in the program and added as a program's icon (it's a pen). The ability to cut or load the brush and use it to paint is still missing, however most of the points has been realised! The error "-6" that appeared to someone of you is when the program is unable to obtain sufficient amount of pens from the system. I will need to make the error message more clear of course. I hope you'll like the program and find it useful. It's not much complicated but it's working! And it's written quite flexible, so new effects and functions can be added with little effort.

I had much time to code during the holidays that's why this version appeared so quick!

@RNS-Amiga-Club

Btw, can it load png images ? I.e. can i just load png image, resize it, change a bit, add alpha , and save as aos4 native icon ?
RNS-Amiga-ClubRe: 32Bit Icon Editor bounty - release v1.1 ready20110103 23:19  #724
@kas1e

Yes, you can :) "Load Image" option in the menu. However there is no ability to rescale the image.
kas1eRe: 32Bit Icon Editor bounty - release v1.1 ready20110103 23:33  #725
@RNS-Amiga-Club

That good :) It can load all the image formats which avail via datatypes ?
Maybe ability to rescale the image its not necessary for icon-editor (just because it should be just icon editor, not big-full-of-features-paint-program). Have old icon editor ability to resize the images ? As far as i remember it was pretty primitive, just loading, drawing with some simply effects, and saving.

@RNS-Amiga-Club

Nice progress so far, I like it! :)

May I make a feature request? Please display pixel coordinates and image width/height info :P
kas1eRe: 32Bit Icon Editor bounty - release v1.1 ready20110104 15:39  #737
@RNS-Amiga-Club

Tested at last your editor. Looks very promising, and indeed works without crashes and very stable. While not fully-featured for now (in compare with old iconeditor), but still, very, very good and promisig. Hope you will finish it and hyperion can release it with the OS4.

But there also some minor think which i notice from the first run, about which you maybe will be in interest to know for Todo or kind :) So:

-- editor do not have resize gadget for the main window (old one have, and that feature are good to have , because sometime you want to make working windowses smaller by different reassons). For now editor have some fixed working area, and that looks a bit static, and reduce a bit "friendly usage" from end users.

-- default palette looks a bit strange for me in compare with old iconeditor default palette (dunno if that should be like that by your code, or maybe some bugs happens which maybe related to bug which have rigo on beta-system). Check how it looks like for me:

Will be cool if default palette will be more "truecolor" by default, with all those red, blues, etc.

-- the same related to colors/palettes: maybe the same "color circle" as for old iconeditor will be very nice as well (because not many users like to change colors by number-sliders only, but somethink like in old iconedit will be pretty friendly imho):

-- also on 16 bit screen, by default (with "normal view" all the transparency area are black). On 32 bit screens it looks fine (as transparency), but on 16bit ones, its fully black.

-- some minor stuff which i see for now, its a bit bad rounding of bounds, there:

-- there is also no "actul size of icon" view (maybe the same as in old iconed ? one area, are working one, which are big and resized, and at some other part of working window, two windowses: pressed and unpressed in original size (to see how it will looks like in end) ). I.e. as with old iconedit.

Anyway, its already pretty cool editor, hope it will mature and replace old iconeditor :) Will continue testing and report any bugs which will found , but for now all works very stable, no crashes and no problems.

ps. unlimited undo/redo are indeed good to have. feels modern and handy :)

@Troels

It works fine here and it looks very nice :-) My donation was worth it!
samo79Re: 32Bit Icon Editor bounty - release v1.1 ready20110104 19:27  #743
Yep, i agree of all kas1e's considerations, we miss also the iconification gadget and so on but for a WIP release is good enough :-)

Congrats!

Argh! That's a alternative way to force me to do a new icon asap ;)
Sent new icons via pm.
