TuneNet SR1 (for OS4 Final)
Not too shy to talk

Hi,

A new release of TuneNet can be found on the homepage (www.tunenet.co.uk) which fixes some issues with the last public release.

Although not perfect yet as there are still some remaining bugs, here is a list of what has been fixed:

V0.84.(72) - Alpha
* Fixed filename buffer corruption on auto save / load playlist
* Fixed crash on MP3 library missing.
* Fixed decode mode allocation for listers, which was always 3 bytes short.
* Fixed order in cleanup functions.
* Fixed docky lockup issues on OS4 Final (now a requirement because of this).
* Fixed Version string.
* Added AmiUpdate support.
* Added basic support for converting unicoded MP3 tags to original ASCII.
* Added basic info window (more to come).
* Started to add support for multi-threaded DB access.
* Added priority switch (Passive) in plugin API / TuneNet

This is a Work in Progress version (IE: Alpha).

Cheers,
Bean.

Just wondering about this one:
Added basic support for converting unicoded MP3 tags to original ASCII

Can you explain a bit more?

Sorry, I didn't word that very well - I'm sleepy...

Some strings in MP3 tags are stored in Unicode, my tag reader will do a simple conversion on these so they become readable within the GUI.

For example: The Amigan DJ Nick's tracks always displayed as muddled characters under the last version, now they are readable.

Cheers,
Bean.

I need to sleep.

Thanks for this excellent work. Nonetheless, the "about" still says "TuneNet V0.84.64".

Hi,

Indeed it is. But the version string in the program is now correct and in the standard format (which is wasn't previously). Do a version TuneNet to be sure.

Cheers,
Bean.

@Bean

Thanks for this new release!

How does this AmiUpdate support work?

Also, is there a system in place (or coming soon) to find album art, or should we download it manually?

Thanks

Ah - can't say much more about this at the moment. That's Rigo's domain.

It's comming in some form, I've already written the routines to extract images from MP3 tags (not in the service release). External sources will no doubt be used as well.

I need to crack on with the Full skinable system now. (I'm sure FuZion will agree with me here)!

Cheers,
Bean.

A mechanism is being prepared that will allow all applications that support it to work with AmiUpdate, that way, when AmiUpdate is run it will list any updates it finds.

Needless to say, AmiUpdate is not released to the public yet (there really isn't enough that supports it yet) but has been used by the OS4 beta testers and devs for the last 2 years. A lot of development has gone into this tool, so it's really just a case of getting enough in the application database.

More news will follow...

Simon

I've released a working Datatypes plugin for this version of TuneNet:
http://aminet.net/package/mus/play/tunenet_dt

This will allow you to play file types that you have Datatypes for (eg. WAV, 8SVX, etc)

@Rigo

What does the file hosting side have to do to support it? Ie can I add support for amiupdate on OS4Depot?
