While assembling my Sam440 I noticed the 'free beer and sex' jumper so I enabled it and then when powering up it booted directly into OS4.

This was a woolly jumper, I take it?

Yup. Like in movie title "Free Willy": sometimes when you boot OS4 you forget about beer and sex

OK, actually I've only received the board so far and am in the process of assembling the components to build the system. So far I've got I a Liteon 20X SATA DVD Writer and a Maxtor 300G SATA HD. I've also got an Antec NSK 1300 case/PSU on order which should be shipped this Monday. As soon as it arrives I'll put them all together and see what I've got.

Received the case on Fri and assembled the components all together after work in the evening. Fired right up into U-Boot, but first I need to put a non-crappy monitor on the system to see what I'm doing.

Hope to see some good news soon about this new Amiga system!
Will you buy OS 4.0 when it is released?

I doubt he'd pay that much for a high-tech paperweight!

What I'm curious about is if he'll bother putting Linux on it while he's waiting.

Of course he'll bother! If he waits for OS4 he might have a machine doing nothing for either months, or maybe forever! (depending on what the situation is internally.. but who knows whats going on!).
EDIT: the above is speculation, if that wasn't clear already. :)

We took a punt on our machines, but lets actually use it in the meantime instead of waiting around.

Most definitely! The more systems that run OS4 the better..

Of course, it's what I'm working on now. It's like deja vu all over again as it was when I got the A1.

Sounds like my PS3, but at least I can use AmigaOS 3.9 on that and it plays great movies too!
