As a CSPPC user I'm disappointed to read it now needs a whopping 256Mb of Ram.

I guess it's back to IBrowse for me

But well done on continuing development of this much needed OS4 application.

I read that it uses more memory and more ram.. there would be the possibility in the future to use less memory and better speed ?

Scrollbars are just the thing I was waiting for, looks relay nice, i think OWB is faster for ever update.

But way does the browser not use the OS4 memory allocator?

Looking good, I like the scroll bar, but I am having problems with posting messages.

Posting a reply, I used the quote button, and then wanted to edit the quote. i.e. ad the bold tags and delete the non-relevant part. For clarity, at this point the scrollbar is at the top.
Every time I tried to delete or backspace the scrollbar moved downwards, and the OWB window was corrupted. If I moved the scroll bar back to the top, the graphics sorted themselves out, and the correct number of characters had been deleted. Also a similar story with drag and select.
Looks like something silly, not that I'd really know I'm no programmer.

Anyway overall it's looking good, but I thought I would report the above.

I have that font installed, (look in your Fonts/_Truetype directory) and I have the same problem as you.

I did get the following, in the OWB shell window:-
Quote:
of expression $get) is not object.
const WebCore::Cursor& WebCore::columnResizeCursor() not implemented
const WebCore::Cursor& WebCore::columnResizeCursor() not implemented
const WebCore::Cursor& WebCore::columnResizeCursor() not implemented
const WebCore::Cursor& WebCore::columnResizeCursor() not implemented
const WebCore::Cursor& WebCore::columnResizeCursor() not implemented

But this was after playing around with v1.14, particularly on the maps.live site joerg mentioned in the readme, and I had exited. So I was not 100% sure where the error message came from.

It appears that if the OWB window is scrolled anywhere other than right at the top, whenever you try to type in a form the above occurs. I've had each character displaying above the previous one, as if the window thinks it has been scrolled. I'm typing this in OWB now, with it scrolled right to the top and it is typing out perfectly. Move it a few pixels and the window starts scrolling down to the bottom on every character!

I was having problems with this on the previous version too, so I don't think it is related to the new scrollbars (which are very welcome).

Because OWB needs 512 MB RAM, or even more, with the public version of newlib.library. OWB 1.14 uses the one from the current beta versions, just statically linked into the OWB executable (it's still based on the same dlmalloc, just using different parameters).

The one I used in my previous versions of OWB was of course based on AmigaOS4 memory allocators as well, 17 ItemPools and 2 MemoryPools, and especially the ItemPools are very fast with a very low overhead, but because of the memory trashing bugs in OWB there were too much problems, with the dlmalloc based memory allocator the OWB bugs seem to cause much less crashes.

You may have Verdana, but I very much doubt you have a "Veranda" font installed
Probably a typo on a webpage.

Missing fonts are no problem, as long as the DejaVu ones included in OS4 are complete.

Javascript bug on the web page, or using a feature not supported by OWB.

I haven't implemented all mouse pointers for OWB yet, they are included in the sources, but I have to convert them from 32 bit PNG images to 2 colour XBM ones.

On maps.live.de you can resize the map (make the text part on the left side smaller, but only with other browsers anyway), for that the columnResizeCursor would be used. It's no problem if the special cursors are missing, you just don't get a different mouse pointer for such things yet.

No. Since OWB renders the complete pages for example the last posts page here needs about 30 MB RAM, and that's just for the empty page without any text or graphics on it.

The only way would be to implement for example a special 16 bit graphics format (AAAARRRRGGGGBBBB, i.e. 4096 coulors with 16 alpha levels) instead of using 32 bit, but I'd have to implement all graphics functions for such a format and it would very likely look very ugly ...

What can be done is to create vector based image of web content, that way you can render only the visual parts, saving lots of mb of bitmap memory.
