Amigans down time
Supreme Council
Supreme Council

Sorry about Amigans.net being inaccessible for the last day or so.

The apache webserver had died on us and it took some time to get to the admin that could restart it. Steps have been taken to minimize this time should Apache die on us again in the future.

How does one do that, i don't work with TypeManager that often
After installing the fonts select each one for which you have more than one of the same family, for example Arial, Arial Bold, Arial Italic and Arial Bold Italic are one font family, use change, tab 3 files, add the other family fonts and save the changes (the english text in the gadgets may be different, I'm using the german locale and didn't check the english texts).

ps: did you fix your crash yet?
It probably wasn't related to the fonts and the crashes you get. Please try if this executable crashes for you as well, I changed some of the font parameters and added more output if something can't be found. You have to start it from a shell to get the output.

What's wrong with my corefonts .font and .otag files?

Nothing really, i just thought a clean approach would be
best to really filter out ALL possible flaws

No offence, joerg, your doing a great job

I have installed and copied to Fonts: the core fonts but i cannot install the cyberbit.zip font.. i don't understand how can i install it.. with typemanager it didn't show the cyberbit.zip in the requester so i cannot install them..
Unpack the ZIP archive, for example with UnArc, and install the .TTF file in it with TypeManager.

No. Did you unpack the CAB archives (.exe) from sourceforge.net and copy the .TTF files to FONTS:_TrueType?

... any news on this? I'm very anxious to try the "RetroPlatform Player" mentioned in Amiga Future.

On the Amiga Forever homepage there is a press release dated December 18th concerning the "imminent release" of AF2008.

I know, two months is nothing in Amigaland

I have it reproduceable now, maybe you would like to take a look?

I have everything installed as per readme.

The first time (after a reboot) i start OWB (regardless if shell or icon)
it crashes with the aforementioned (by TiredofLife and Hans) crash.

Right after the GR window has popped up i start OWB again and NOW it
starts, without problems, without crashes, without recoverable alerts!

After a reboot, everything is back to "normal" - read, it crashes

I don't know the inner workings of OWB, but i suspect OWB tries to read
something which is created on startup (but not yet available) and
crashes.
The second start CAN read this "something" (because it was created on
start of the first instance) and starts up normally (maybe only some
little bugger in env?)

Could you give me an idea on where to look next?

Hi,

I can confirm the above, until doing the above I would get a ISI crash everytime I ram OWB. This would be even before the GUI would show up.

I have all the need fonts (even completely rebuilding my fonts directory.

I have 4 crash logs if anyone would like me to send them.

It appears there may be a problem with the ?newlib.library.kmod?.

Ciao,
Trev Daley.

@all

If you want to check your font installations, use Fontpreviewer available here.
You will have to check each of the fonts individually, but the error messages with incorrect font installations are useful. Assuming you have installed the core fonts you need to check the following fonts:-

Andale Mono.font
Arial Black.font
Arial Bold Italic.font
Arial Bold.font
Arial Italic.font
Arial.font
Comic Sans MS Bold.font

I can reproduce a problem with 1.10 now, it's not same as the crashes others get, but it may be related.
