Re: CD/DVD burning tool

Hi @ZeroG and Joerg,

After you have tried with AmiDVD 1.38:
Can you please post the exact type of your AOpen and LiteOn drives and if it works or not.

I tried AmiDVD again this evening as was successful. It was version 1.38 and this time I used a standard DVD-R. I made a bootable disk of my DH0:OS4 bootup drive. I could bootup on the DVD - nice!

The drive is AOPEN DUW1616/ARR 1020
The DVD-R had no brand name, 8X, 4.7 GB.
I changed the speed to 4X at 5,410 KB/sec, instead of the 8X at 10,820.
My boot partition = 654.3M. The DVD was written in about 17minutes and about 8 minutes. The AOPEN drive is set to UDMA 1 via sii0680ide. ISR that DMA to ATAPI devices is not supported and has only 'bestPIO=0.'
-------------------Unit 2 information------------------------
Flags : $0000011D - present, supports DMA, removable media, ATAPI, interrupts used,
Xfer mode : best pio 12 (PIO 4, 16 MB/s) / best dma 68 (UDMA 4, 66 MB/s) / current 8 (PIO 0, 3 MB/s)
Total blocks : 0
Blocksize : 0
SCSI devtyp : 5
Packet size : 12
Current medium read speed : x 65535 ('65535' stands for max.)
Current medium write speed : x 65535 (idem)
Power mode : 2 / idle (ready for operation)

The bsdocket.library emulation doesn't work on OS4.0 at the moment, but uaescsi.device does. However, uaescsi.device currently only supports mounting an optical drive (CD-ROM/DVD, etc.) within E-UAE.

If you want to import an existing AmigaOS filesystem to use on E-UAE on AmigaOS, then you'll have to make an image of it and mount it as a hardfile. A partition has to be less than 2GB (on AmigaOS hosts ) for this to work.

So, we have to help @nubechecorre to mount a CDROM (readable
under OS4) inside his eUAE installation...

Otherwise it would be dead easy, as you already wrote

btw: that mounting as a hardfile was my choice long before
i figured how to mount my OS4 CDROM to eUAE with help of
this thread ... another 600MB HD space saved

@nubechecorre

I see no problems with your config...

Do the following:

Load in eUAE
In a shell, type
version uaescsi.device full
to check if your device is loaded

Check if you got
L:CacheCDFS 42.19 (02.06.1999)

Devs:DosDrivers/CD0

with salass00's post:

/***************************************************************/
/* CacheCDFS mountlist entry ? 2000 Amiga Inc. */
/***************************************************************/
FileSystem = L:CacheCDFS /* The name of the game */
Device = "uaescsi.device" /* Name of exec device driver */
Unit = 0 /* exec device unit */
Flags = 0 /* OpenDevice flags */
BlocksPerTrack = 351000 /* Unused */
BlockSize = 2048 /* True, but unused */
Mask = 0x7ffffffe /* Memory mask for direct read */
MaxTransfer = 0x1000000 /* Maximum amount of bytes for direct read */
Reserved = 0 /* Unused */
Interleave = 0 /* Unused */

Mount = 1 /* Mount it immediately */
Priority = 10 /* Priority of FileSystem task */
DosType = 0x43443031 /* Currently unused */
StackSize = 3000 /* Minimum stack required is 3000! */
Control = "MD=1 LC=1 DC=8 L LV AL LFC=1 HR=.rsrc NTD AUDIO=Utilities/PlayCD"
/* The Control field is for special adjustments */
/* L/S convert all file/volume names to lowercase */
/* LV/S convert volume names to lowercase */
/* AL/S Auto-Lower converts only non-Amiga CDs */
/* LFC/N start converting at this character */
/* LC/N/A number of blocks per cache line */
/* DC/N/A number of cache lines for the data cache */
/* MD/N/A number of blocks, when starting direct read, not using */
/* the cache. 0 will be a reasonable default (LC*DC+1) */
/* S/S Do SCSI direct commands, no Trackdisk like commands! */
/* NC/S Do NOT use TD_ADDCHANGEINT, poll for DiskChange! */
/* M/S Issue a TD_MOTOR (OFF) command after read */

Check if this CD0 file is flagged rwed and s and the command
to start is C:Mount.

To test if it works or not you can always do a
assign CD0: dismount to get rid of CD0 and try again
installing it by altering the prefs and double clicking it's
icon

Lets hear how it went

is there a known problem?

There is a known bug with hardfiles which stops E-UAE quitting cleanly on AmigaOS. I have fixed this problem now, though, and am hoping to put out a new release very soon.

thanks! i found out that this has to do with the hdf file just yesterday. i have two problems left:
1. wip4 seems to be mor unstable if i copy a lot of files inside euae. it just locks the whole computer then. wip2 has no problems here
2. the s-bit stuff mentioned above drives me crazy ...

in the meantime i was able to install amigasys3+ by doing the following:

1. mount and boot the hdf file (system:) using wip2
2. also mount a filesystem (system2:)
3. copy ALL from system: to system2: (ALL CLONE)
this then results in a correct filesystem disk with the s-bit set as defined.
4. change the config and boot from the filesystem (wip2!)
5. do the installation through amigasys3+

only this worked here...

thanks and

@evilrich

I was running Slackware Linux 11.0. Slackware doesn't tend to separate indo -dev packages. If you install the package, you get the headers too :)

I'm now running Windows (to keep someone else happy :-\) so it's no longer an issue for me.

However searching for libasound on the newer Slackware 12.0 results in this:

bash-3.1$ locate libasound
/usr/lib/libasound.la
/usr/lib/libasound.so
/usr/lib/libasound.so.2
/usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0

So no libasound2, but there's definitely a libasound.so.2.

What am I missing?

Since the ALSA config options are not recognized, I'd hazard a guess that you are not actually successfully building against ALSA.

Do you have the libasound2 headers installed? (the package will be called something like libasound2-dev - depending on which distro you are using).

If that isn't the problem, then email me your config.log file (which should be generated by configure) privately.

Re: OS installation under E-UAE
Home away from home
Home away from home

@nubechecorre

That doesn't really help much as the CDRom will be added
AFTER WB is loaded in.

Please, as i said in PM, post your eUAE config, so we can
rule out problems there first and then we'll see about your
OS39 installation

Thanks for the update. Would you consider adding the option of using aspect ratios for cropping (like 4x6, 8x10, etc) instead of screen resolutions?
