@nubechecorre

Try commenting out/removing the "scsi_device=ATAPI" line. I don't have it here and I have working CD-Rom in E-uae using uaescsi.device.

@nubechecorre

No, they shouldn't. There is no file named "uaescsi.device". The device is created in memory (inside the emulation) by uae when you specify scsi=true in the config file. Same with "bsdsocket.library" (for this you have to set bsdsocket_emu=true).

@joerg

I tried to burn a CD with AmiDVD. It looked like it did the burning but that CD didn't work and wasn't readable on any computer. I don't remember any details anymore what I was trying to burn so I can't help here. My drive is Liteon DVD burner.

When I run AmiDVD (v1.37 3.9.07) it opens a console window and then constantly outputs the following:

SCSI command 46 00 00 00 00 00 00 10 00 00 failed
 sense
70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0a 00 00 00 00 20 00 00 00 00 00

The drive is a Samsung CD-R/RW SW-212B.
The drive is too old, it doesn't support the "Get Configuration" command yet. I'll probably add support for such old drives as well, but it may take some time.

Yes, that's what I thought too, the original and unique "Amiga Computer Inc.", co-founded by Jay Miner and Dave Morse. The current one is not even a clone but a fake replica "made in China"...

@nubechecorre

Maybe is a stupid question but i don't know how to set up a cd-rom in e-uae for the amiga os 4.0 i have set everything and i can run amiga os 3.9 with two partitions but i don't know how to set up a cd-rom drive..

In the config file of e-uae i put these lines :

Quote:

scsi=true
scsi_device=ATAPI

What am i missing ?

uaescsi.device and BSDsocket.library were two items leftout of OS4 version. I'm pretty sure mentioned this a very long time ago.

Read the docs! CD-ROM works fine. I installed OS3.9 off the CD to build a nice AmiKit/OS4.

I think he's referencing the fact that he worked for the original Amiga before Commodore came along, with Dave Morse.

After you have tried with AmiDVD 1.38:
Can you please post the exact type of your AOpen and LiteOn drives and if it works or not.

@mufa and SZAMAN
Will be added, thanks.

@joerg
The other AOpen in the list is mine.
I dont need it at the moment so i could send it to you for some tests if you like.

Why do you say this?
Because I've tested it. Unlike the author of swraid.device I have the required hardware (3 IDE controllers, 4 incl. the motherboard VIA686 one, enough HDs, etc.) for testing and I've optimized my raid.device a lot already, incl. writing special versions of diskcache.library for it.

Quote:
My understanding is that the bottleneck in an IDE system is not the transfer but the HD's read/write performance.
Unless you have very old HDs the bottleneck on the A1 is the A1
For example my HDs can read/write about 75 MB/sec. sustained - if you don't use them in an A1.

Quote:
Halve the amount of data the disk has to write and performance will double. The controller is capable of 133MB/Sec, just the disks that aren't, so even on one controller surely you'll get a good speed difference in transfer speed, as effectively the bottleneck's width has been doubled...?
The max. speed you can get on an A1 with a single PCI33 controller is about 43 MB/sec., no matter if you use a single HD or several ones at the same time. By using 2 (or more) HDs connected to 2 (or more) different controllers at the same time you can get about 72 MB/sec. (raw device I/O speed, with raid.device, diskcache and filesystem overhead it's max. 68 MB/sec. reading on a 2 HD, 2 controller RAID1, but only with extreme benchmarks, for "normal" transfers you get max. 60-65 MB/sec. With other RAID systems, for example RAID5, you get much less speed, and of course writing is slower with RAID1 as well since the data has to be written to all HDs of the RAID.).

With a single HD and putting one of the controllers in the PCI66 slot of the A1, which should theoretically work since I'm using a Voodoo3 PCI gfx card, I do get the max. HD speed, i.e. more than I get using several HDs with several PCI33 controllers, but it doesn't work reliable and I get data corruption.

WHDLoad causing havoc
Just popping in
Just popping in

For the first time in many years, I decided to install several games on my HDD, using whatever means necessary. In most cases, those means turned out to go by the name WHDLoad. However, I've encountered the oddest of problems:

My system (an A2000) runs a 16 bit Workbench in 800x600. I've grown used to that resolution, and kind of like the thought of keeping it that way. This is made possible by using a Picasso II+ and P96 in conjunction with a scandoubler.
Now, what happens with WHDLoad is that it presents me with a black screen and a frozen pointer. Other than that, most games seem to run fine. And I can even make a clean exit with F10. Obviously a problem with the screen resolution. Once I've stated this, it's getting interesting: Setting the tooltype PAL makes no difference whatsoever. Setting the tooltype NTSC, however, gives me a working screen in - NTSC. It beats a black screen of course, but on a PAL-system it doesn't really provide me with an enjoyable gaming experience. Unless, of course, I'm on acid - which I'm usually not. And before anyone asks - yes, I've got the PAL file in Devs:monitors. Might also add that when run outside the Workbench, the games concerned work just fine. Other than that, I can't really say much besides, perhaps, help?

EDIT: Problem solved.

System setup:

A2000
Blizzard 2040/40Mhz with 128Mb FastRAM
Scandoubler
PicassoII+ (2Mb)
ROM 3.1
AmigaOS 3.9
