maybe, but does it crash now or the old problem is fixed?

A little more info for you. I tried the PC version of ffmpeg and it actually throws an exception under the same padding conditions. The difference is it writes a stackdump file and exits. The video output file has been processed fine. I have noticed on the Amiga that the crash occurs at the very end of processing. My guess right now is that the output file on the Amgia is fine as well but is left open when ffmpeg throws the exception so it can't be accessed again. If there were a way to close the file I'd bet it would turn out to be fine.

Don't have the Amiga output file handy but here is the
PC stackdump file contents in case it helps:

Problem with mpg files & pad settings confirmed here, email sent.

Got it and replied. Thanks!

I get jaggies on the right side of an mpg file converted with different pad settings. I haven't tried the newer ffmpeg port yet, but will soon.

I have seen the jaggies on occasion too but haven't investigated it much yet. Looks like another ffmpeg problem, or maybe I don't understand how to use it quite right.

Thanks for the report!

@Spirantho

mboehmer (the man behind E3B) is currently looking for informations about DMA under OS4 for his Deneb project.

It seems that he has some problems to contact the OS4 Team / Hyperion.

In the mean time TetiSoft and tboeckel have joined his thread at amiganews.de and I think he have got some infos from them.

I have posted some links to your old DMA/AmiTV threads.

I really hope that Rogue or tfrieden is already in touch with him.

@ktadd

More than happy to do some more testing if you want but let me know exactly what it is you want me to do.
I'm very much a newbie when it comes to ffmpeg.

I have used the older version with the command you stated previously.
I used it when converting wmv files to mpeg
No errors .
I have no idea what the pad function does though, so don't know if that was actually implemented.

Have downloaded the latest version if you need me to test that as well.

Cheers.

@lazi

OK too slow maybe better for a future 2.0 GHZ Amiga no?
But in the meantime is there too difficult to run Bochs?
Can anybody show me the basics to configure the emulator
on OS 4.0?

I read that Poseidon chould use OS4 usb drivers, it mighy be an idea to try os4 hid driver with Poseidon. Well its worth a shot.

@Framiga

Thanks - E3B/Elbox... easily confused. :)

Poseidon's not good enough for me though - Poseidon works perfectly with my Highway... but Poseidon relies on patching the input.device for keyboard/mouse - which doesn't work on 4.0.

Hence I need native OS4 drivers.

@Spirantho

erm .. Deneb is a ZorroIII USB 2.0 card made by E3B (not Elbox)

Beeing Poseidon AmigaOS4 compatible (with some tweaking) probably it will work.

Deneb under OS 4?

Hi everybody,

Some of you may be aware that I can't get my Highway to work under AOS 4 without it freezing solid the machine whenever there's heavy disk access (even on completely unrelated devices)... so I'm looking at alternatives.

It seems the total number of devices available right now for me is 1 - the one I've got, which doesn't work right.

What about the forthcoming Elbox Deneb though? Is this or will this be supported? Even under USB 1.1 conditions it'll allow me to use my USB keyboard/mouse which is what I really need.

I can't think of anything else to try - I've tried Poseidon (doesn't work because you can't patch input.device which is necessary for the mouse/keyboard, it seems), tried ANAIIS (worth a try!), but still no joy!

Yes, too slow for any serious use.

However I think it would be good for testing AROS stuff. I made some attempt to install AROS under BOCHS to test my Hollywood apps., but did not find a way to start it.

It complains about VGA features, and I am not able to set proper vga bios.

Is there anybody, who made it succefully boot AROSx86?

Bye!

IMHO Bochs is way too slow to be of much use currently.

Still crashes on mpeg1 files even with the new version.
I did notice that if run the crashing mpeg1 files through
ffmpeg using the mpeg1video video codec that I can then
crop the resuting file without crashing. I tried this with the old version of ffmpeg.

Trying to emulate a PC with BOCHS

Hi

My problem is from time ago and I don't have the patience
or basic skills to configure and run BOCHS to emulate
a PC or AMD Windows computer.
My main interest about this is to access the "new" possibilities that offers a PC today.You know Internet Explorer,e-mail,chat or games ar in the mouth of PC users
right now I think that is a beatiful oportunity for us to
make the world see that an Amiga computer can execute and
emulate a PC as it was a real PC.

So what are your experiences on BOCHS emulator?

Can anybody give a mini-guide to open a new world on my
Amiga One computer?

What's the best way to install Windows on this and what's the best supported or emulated version of Windows?

If any gives me a simple steps to make this happen I will be so grateful with you really.

Cheers

WARNING! This version of ffmpeg does not work properly with ffmpegGUI because the video and audio bitrate options have changed units between this version and the last version. The bitrate units are now in bits instead of kbits.

The workaround for this problem for the time being is to leave the bitrates at their default settings and set the
bitrates in the additional commands gadget using the
-b videobitre and -ab audiobitrate commands.

Well, as has been suggested elsewhere, there is a distinct possibility that with Amiga inc being tied up with Microsoft, Amiga Inc only want the Amiga OS back so that they can kill it. I am sure Microsoft don't want a rival OS anywhere.

Can't see that because Microsoft have recently released a new version of MS office for the Mac.

@agafaster

Cards adhering to the PRISM standard are supported in both linux and OS4. For a list of OS4 cards (and they will more than likely be supported in linux too) you could search os4depot for "prism" and check the readme or archive for specific cards/models.

@agafaster

next question, and I know I should've researched this better - which PCI wireless cards work with Linux and OS4 on the A1 ? I had found in a copy of Total Amiga from 2005 that Amigakit were doing one, but can't find it in their store !
I've had a look on intuition base, but there's hardly anything there - might need updating a smidge.

as for software, I imagine I should be able to find the software from Aminet or OS4depot still, shouldnt I ?
