Wonder what it means to the average Amigan though? Hi Mikey_C, How did everyone overlook this and how exciting is THIS!???? AND check out this (pages 4, 20) PDF!!! (It's only 1 Meg.) They say that the 440 has an FPU, is that different than Altivec? This is a HUGE blow to lose Altivec.

@Raziel Well, I might be wrong with the version number... but if I remember correctly these 256-color icons I'm looking for were version 3 too and never got released as complete package and now they have progressed to these 32bit icons. So, if the original "work-in-progress" versions of 256-color version with 1 or 2 small additions as lha -packages are still available somewhere to download, I'd be very grateful!

@quenthal iirc and it was said in this very thread about a month ago that the icon set 3.0 was not yet released. I could be wrong, though!

Where could I download the last Ken's 256-color set (3.0 + released additions)? It seems I've lost my two .lha -packages consisting of those...

Hum, regarding fxScan, it works fine here, I have converted scans to PDF without problem. I have not tried OCR yet, though, but scanning works fine.

I'm pretty sure there's no chance in hell that Adaptec cards will work. They use their own controller chips, the OS4 driver only supports the LSI53C8** line of chips. Someone would need to write/port (an)other driver(s) for the Adaptecs. At least that's how I understood things. Best regards, Niels

@Hans Quote: What I think would be unrealistic would be to expect someone to build and sell SAM based laptops. Hans
Manufacturing will be too pricey for someone to make money from production of these. And to make a feasible laptop with OS4 there will involve be things like software support for battery and power-saving mode for HD. If you want to run Linux on it, the same thing apply (there is support form HD power-saving mode, but the battery will be still an issue). Instead of laptop, maybe a500-a600-a1200 style all-in-keyboard thingie? With flash-based storage, slim cdrom. Maybe even with attached LCD screen. Portable system but not a laptop. But first: let it hit the shelves, with OS4 bundled... Jack

LOL, very true. I think this laptop talks is unrealistic. You can better talk about castles in the sky. We don't even have OS4 on SAM, so why must we talk about something even more unrealistic like a SAM laptop with OS4? Better solve the basic problems first!
Ignoring OS4, I think that building your own laptop with a SAM board is realistic. It's not going to look like a laptop that you buy from the store, and it won't be cheap, but, provided you have the skills, it'perfectly feasible. I personally don't have the time or money, but that doesn't mean that it's unrealistic. What I think would be unrealistic would be to expect someone to build and sell SAM based laptops. Hans

Okey not a permission issue then, well then it's not much that can be done. Sometimes it helps clearing the cookie cache AND then login using another browser before going back to Ibrowse.

@Rob No. Because of unemployment, I had to sell it to a former collegue for 5000 SEK. Now it's been long enough time without OS4 and my fingers are trembling and I am longing to put my hands on it again. I have a new job and moneys to spend! At least I still have my Classic Amiga, so I am waiting for Rogue and ACube to release OS4 for it. July sounds like a good month for it, what do you think?
