@Atheist
Two of the brands listed were related to Commodore in some way:
ICL were the people who came out to fix the A3000s and A4000s under warranty.
Digital were the prefered Amiga HD suppliers.

@ChrisH Given the timing of the revelations (to the media, not to us) of past troubles, I am wondering who it was that tapped brunner on the shoulder and whispered in that ear, ?Hey! I got some juicy dirt for ya!? I can only imagine that it is someone who hates Amiga and wants them to fail; and since they likely have zero exposure to those who actually own Amiga, it must be someone who hates Bill McEwen, and who has the media's ear. I wonder who that could be. So the saga of hateful obsession goes on. Whenever he tries to succeed, this person is there to stamp it out, as though it were a fire threatening their interests.

@Mikey_C Eyetech did not fold, it pulled out of the market, probably for good reasons of which we are not privy. My words were "regain" respectability because it was lost some time ago but amateur episodes like this just don't help. Who in their right mind as a startup would commit $10M US? From my perspective it looks like that commitment was based on personal choices of one individual who happens to live in the Kent area and supports the sporting team included in the discussions. Did the investors get any say?
I am not sure banking on the classic line as a way forward is the right way to go (sure they should be included). I have a suspicion that things may work out quicker than people expect and that HW will flow sooner than later.
My 5 cents.

Sadly, I fear we lost respectability years ago, when Eyetech folded and no new hardware appeared. We are up the proverbial sh*t creek without the paddle as it is.
Forget respectability, forget brand name impact. Thats gotta be rebuilt from scratch. What we urgently need more than anything is the expansion of the OS4 userbase, through classic hardware with PPC accelerators and with brand new hardware.

@Mikey_C Not I but it just makes it all so much harder for the brand/name Amiga to regain respectability.

@COBRA
Not sure about the home key but if you edit the amiga_pos.vkm file with the following then the insert key can be used instead.
Put a # in front of the 13 6 3 8 line and then remove the # from the 71 -1 -1 0 and change it to 71 6 3 8. You could also lable it as insert -> crl/home as it is blank by default.
You could just change the 13 to 71 but I think it is more orderly this way.
Hope this helps
Arnie.

@Mason Nono! That's not the way to do it! You have AISS in a script, right? Add the following line first:
; $VER: AISS 3.2
Now you can do a
VERSION Sys:WBStartup/AISS
and get your version. And this is the Amiga way to do it. But then again, this only applies for the script. So, to technically update anything would require an update to the script. ANd, here's a little script to test the version of SYS:WBStartup/AISS. Copy it and test with execute. Of course, add the line above to your script.
version SYS:WBStartup/AISS version 5
version SYS:WBStartup/AISS version 5 > NIL: IF WARN THEN echo "over version 5" ELSE echo "under or equals 5" ENDIF
version SYS:WBStartup/AISS version 2 >NIL: IF WARN THEN echo "over version 2" ELSE echo "under or equals 2" ENDIF
version SYS:WBStartup/AISS version 3 revision 2 > NIL: IF WARN THEN echo "over version 3.2" ELSE echo "under or equals to 3.2" ENDIF
This can even test revisions! Love Amiga scripting!

Hi @stianstr From your article: Optimizations: Dont use FFS2! As nice at it is, SFS is alot faster! That's total bull! The default system should be FFS2. In classical Amiga, SFS optimized the CPU into the FS. If your 040 card flatlined, you reboot on 68x and FFS; you can't do that via SFS. My backups are not CPU dependent. I use FFS2. Try more thought processing rather that word processing!

@Severin > May I suggest you take a little more water with it? Don't put me down; I'm not "being a bit paranoid." All my #?. prefs return in RAWInfo as "ScalosPrefs"! WTF caused that? It was a fresh and new part. for the final update. So where did it come from ? I never install it. >An icon is a data file, it is not executable therefore cannot be a virus unless it's one of those irish ones where you have to delete all your files manually and tell your mates to to the same Get real! If come into the system screwing with the X and Y position of all icons, you'd scream in a minute. This happened with Nuvola icons when I update to SFS 1.273. Maybe it just me, I don't know. Outside of Scalos, I can think of AFA_OS as a possible source of icon problems and incompatability.

Hello all, I've recently been given a mr. mysza ps/2 to amiga adapter, which I'm using a 3-button+mousewheel GE USB wireless optical, with a p2/2 to usb adapter. I don't have the driver disk, though. I was wondering if anybody has a copy they could e-mail to watertonian@charter.net?

@AJS Quote:
Maybe people need to create a list of the Manuals they own? It would give other people a chance to ask for info/help etc
Good idea in my opinion. Maybe if people can list what they have and are willing to share others may start saying what they'd like and a picture will start to form in regards to what people think is most important to have. Once all this is sorted I can then go on upload what is legally redistributable and try to obtain permission to upload whatever material is sought that is now maybe out of publication. Guess I'll start the ball (hopefully) rolling. AMOS manual AMOS Pro manual AMOS Pro compiler manual AMOS IntOS manual Blitz Basic 2.1 manual DigiPaint 2.0 manual Lightwave manual and others. I'll update later when Im at home.

@BillE
The 15" mirror was bought by the Club many years ago, as part of some guy's shed cleanout (he sold a whole lot of stuff). The mirror had been rough ground only. Another club member and myself decided to finish it off and we spent several months of Sundays re-grinding it from the beginning (it had bad scratches in it). It's f/5.5. We got it to the stage where I had it set up on a pedestal in an unused bathroom (the bathroom was good because I could hose it all down to clean it). It's fine ground and showing a bit of polish over most of its surface except the very centre.
The other guy dropped out of the project and the Club lost interest, so I bought it from the Club. I've never made one before and I don't imagine it'll be easy to get it nicely polished - I don't have a clean room any more.
Back when the comet hit Jupiter we had a meeting that night and it turned into quite a party. I had my 10" with a TV camera, the image displayed on TV sets in the clubhouse so everyone could see the display. I remember seeing one of the impacts and there was a clearly visible shock wave radiating from the point of impact. Awesome stuff.
