Please can you try and keep threads on topic. If you want to ask seemingly irrelevant questions, it would be much preferred if you could start a new thread - there isn't a thread shortage, you can start as many as you like. This isn't the first time you've been seen to throw a thread off on a tangent, and I appreciate your topics are Amiga-related, but it is easier for everyone if the discussion relates to the thread title. If it ceases to do so, a new thread should be created. I have no qualms in using my limited moderation powers to ensure this is the case in future. Chris

I'm confused as well. I was advised that the only board licensed for OS4 by Amiga Inc. is the Eyetech AmigaOne (which I believe, sadly, is no longer manufactured). Shouldnt we wait for an official announcement by Amiga Inc. before we discuss these issues? Isn't it rather disrespectful to Amiga Inc to be discussing, what are probably, company confidential matters.

Nice one, Paul.
That makes it so much easier to compare than reading several pages of forum posts. Thank you.

Hello pjs, thank you very much for compiling this wealth of information, it is exactly what I was looking for. ![](https://www.amigans.net/uploads/smil3dbd4d6422f04.gif) I have searched for this information on the world wide web for some time, but a lot of things that I read on webforums were rather confusing. ![](https://www.amigans.net/uploads/smil3dbd4d99c6eaa.gif) I reckon from information that ssolie provided to me that the release of the SAM440-Amiga is planned for the first quarter of 2007. Do you have any information about the plans of the other hardware projects? Thank you again! ![](https://www.amigans.net/uploads/smil3dbd4d6422f04.gif)

@Mikey_C
Given some games were a little tricky to install on the A1 (Quake 2 and Exodus), could we have a software install section (hints) to cover some of these trickier installs. For instance installing Exodus required aspecific patch but most users were trying another.
Also, I was reading another thread regarding playing Real Audio files on the classic, I didn't know that could be done so a section detailing just what the A1 (or new boards) can play and what software is required would be most helpful.

Hi guys, Over the last few months a number of pieces of hardware have been proposed and/or shown for use with OS4. I have compiled all the information I could find into a (Work In Progress) Table of Comparison, which should be attached to this post. I hope this helps in seeing what is/might be coming soon and how things stack up with each other. Please let me know if you have any suggestions, modifications, more information, etc. Thanks, PJS AOS4-NewHardware-v13.pdf

@Alkaron Hmm, ok, thanks for the info... ...but you said, that P96 will be emulated for cards that don't have (or get) a native driver...but CVPPC neither has a P96 driver nor will get a native one (BVisionPPC will) ...so, no support for the CVPPC, at all? ![](https://www.amigans.net/uploads/smil3dbd4d75edb5e.gif)

You know that its possible to write a driver for OS4 in 680x0. Its even possible to write a 680x0 driver that only works on OS4 and not on Classic.
I started do that with some of my usb drivers...
If you ask me Native means PPC code if you are talking about OS4.

Well!
Aos4 emulates classic 680x0 programs .. and drivers. Native modes means that there are drivers written directly for OS4.
The 680x0 is shut down during the use of Aos4

A question about compatibility between MPC7455 and MPC7457 G4-s:
7455 page states this:
"Offered in a 483-pin CBGA package, the MPC7455 processor is pin-compatible with Freescale's MPC7451/MPC7450 processors:
7457 page states this:
"Offered in a 483-pin CBGA package, the MPC7457 processor is footprint-compatible with Freescale's award-winning MPC7455/45 processors"
It isn't the same thing (At least doesn't reads the same) . Footprint indeed the same. But electronically? Number of pins and their geometry are the same too. But the layout(electronically)? Can anyone throw some info?

No I am not a betatester, but I have talked to a betatester for classic amigas! Read an earlier thread about P96 and AmigaOS4 (under Amigaclassic i think) there is a summit of what the betatester told me.
Bvision, will be supported by AOS4 in native mode, but it is not finished yet.
P96 and Elbox will be emulated.
Bvision doenst work very well, p96 does. He told me if he had to choose between those to, he would go for Voodoo and P96

@Alkaron What about CybervisionPPC? Remark: If you can't say due to NDA, just don't!I know that there is no P96 driver for 68k, i am stuck with CybergraphX, (which is not a bad software, but unrcontinued) Will there be an OS4 native P96 driver, or will the CybervisionPPC not be supported at all... which would be a shame, of course! Reminds of the fact, i don't even know if i'm talking to an OS4 betatester, heh ![](https://www.amigans.net/uploads/smil3dbd4d6422f04.gif)

Well!
There are betatesters that succefully run OS4 on BPPC, as written in an earlier thread.
The problem is which GFX-card thats supported. BVision has some issues P96 works with the "old" drivers. There will probably be a native version for BPPC but not for P96.
