Wait -- there's a Linux client for MKShare coming? Woo-hoo!

Hey guys,

I'd suggest you will have a lot better luck installing the
YT.rexx scipt and MPlayer to stream YouTube.

http://os4depot.net/?function=showfile&file=video/misc/yt.lha

http://os4depot.net/?function=showfil ... o/play/mickjt-mplayer.lha

(As far as I know there are newer versions of both in the works)

With those installed, you can add context menus to Ody, IBrowse
and others and reliably stream static and live YouTube videos
with a lot more reliability.

Thanks,

PJS

I didnt know there were clients for anything other than Amiga. I am happy to give it a go - and of course, any changes come back.

I don't want to hijack your thread, but very similarly...

How about keyboard / mouse share? I'm aware of an Amiga specific program in AmiStore, but I'd like to use the same keyboard and mouse between Mac and X5000.

Of you can adapt it MAC, I can provide the src code to the linux MKShareClient on the grounds you provide me with the working client ince compiled.

FWIW, there's also another (new, from scratch) VNC server in
works that I'd expect will break the surface soon. So far it's
faster than AmiNVC.

How much faster ? Noticeable faster ? If it will be at least 2 times faster, then it's good enough then.

What i find with AmiVNC that while it's slow enough, it still pretty stable in terms of network connections..

Will be interesting to test new VNC server.. Hope it will not take few more years to be released :)

There's no 1 specific person. Whoever gets there first. I can update libSDL2_net if needed.

Right.. Ok, so here new build of latest gl4es for newlib:

And if it will be slow too, can you then share with me your test program, so i can play with to find out what wrong ?

@kas1e

FYI, AmiVNC is open source.

I've been using AmiVNC for years... Yes, it's slow and highly
dependent on net bandwidth and the efficiency of the VNC client.

It used to work flawlessly with the RealVNC client until RealVNC
"improved" their client. The ChickenOfTheVNC client on the PPC
Mac still works great with AmiVNC (if slower).

There's a slightly updated version of AmiVNC where the color
issue was improved by Broadblues (Thanks!). I'd need to check
with him to spread it around.

FWIW, there's also another (new, from scratch) VNC server in
works that I'd expect will break the surface soon. So far it's
faster than AmiNVC.

Stay tuned.

Thanks,

Maintainer(s) for libsdl2_* libraries for AOS4

Who is maintaining SDL2 libraries such as libsdl2_net?

I see an entry on OS4Depot.net from 2016.

===

EDIT: I guess no one since net is nothing more than a thin wrapper that calls of into the C library. So, updating it is presumably simple.

Yeah, UK.

These r9, 7900 cards are so large and bulky. The RX series is nice, quiet and light.

Not sure if there is a lightweight SI card to get.

I'll have a search. Thanks for the hint wrt. Ebuyer.

@rjd324

I don't know where you're based but Ebuyer in the UK still have stock of R7 240 cards with GDDR5.
There may be other retailers with SI cards out there.

RX550 doesn't seem to hard to get hold. Higher end cards are out there but you pay a premium if it from well known brand, there cheaper cards from Chinese brands you've never heard of.

Do you still have the 4000 series card? You might probably need a working display to set the system up before swapping over to the RX. Since you already have an RX560 it might be worth testing with that before adding another card to yout collection.

Re: qemu emualtion of AmigaONE XE
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

@Maijestro
Adding nvram should not be diffucult but to include the machine in QEMU it should be able to boot something without needing non-free stuff that's redistributable with QEMU. Since U-Boot is GPL it's only redistributable with source (or even if it would be OK to reditribute the binary QEMU wants to be able to reproduce all binaries from source so I can't include just binsries without source). So we need the U-Boot source to build the amigaone firmware or have to implement -kernel command line option to be able to boot a Linux kernel at least but then people wanting to run AmigaOS would need to download firmware separately or I'd need to emulate too much of U-Boot which is more work. So easiest way is if somebody digs up the source for the AmigaOne firmware which should have been available before so I'm sure somebody still has it so would just need to make it available which is legal to do because of the GPL. If it does not compile now that's not a problem, I can look at fixing it but I don't want to rewrite it from scratch or from the fragments that were upstream in U-Boot in the past.
