How to get Payback working on OS4.1 (Sam)

Since some people are still complaining about Payback not working on OS4.1, I thought I should point them to my AW.net thread (click here!) about how to get it to work.

I have just bought Payback but i am not able to start it under amiga os 4.1 and sam.. i also installed the update ( number 7 from apex site ) but still no luck.. it always bring me back to workbench screen after few seconds of loading.. i can only see the progress bar of the game.. i tried the software render and the hardware render, i try to rise the stack before running the game to 1000000 but nothing.. any ideas ?

i have installed warpos emu too..

Our wrapper isn't too good I think, i'll be crazy just to install Shogo (witch I bought a week ago at Pianeta Amiga)

WarpOS emu gave me a crash also on the installer ...

Have you tried the 68k version?

Yes.. same problem..

i will play it under os 3.9 + PPC and Warp3D

Fair enough but it works on Sam & 4.1 for others, it should do for you also.

Try PaybackSetup and set to use 'Hardware rendering disabled'

IIRC i had same issue and solved it but can't remeber how ?:-/ maybe it was something with the CDROM device set on payback.config

If you want i can send you my payback.config PM or maybe you can "hack" yours by hex-editing and changing the cd device (A1 a1ide.device) to use Sam's sata device or changing to a foo.device.

Ehey ..I just install this great game on my uA1c/os4.1 and both version is working 68k and wos...butt yeah..have problem on both version :D :D on 68k keyboard is not working properly??..on wos version no sound (game sfx) any chance to resolve one of this problem ?? thanx!

Please read my instructions properly: Keyboard only works on 68k if there is a properly configured (USB) joystick plugged in!!!

Sound does not work on WOS, because it is not system friendly. Anyway, the WOS version tends to crash, IIRC.

ahh sorry man..now I read what you write before..dont have usb joystick :( ahh one + game what is not working on OS4 :( shame..

I highly recommend a Competition Pro USB joystick, which is quite cheap from AmigaKit:
