Before you can run it you have to update heretic II with the update available from hyperion site, and before running heretic II remember to disable RTG planar in prefs/gui of the workbench
I can play it and runs smooth on my micro at 640x480
Mine prefs gui freezes the whole machine as soon as I run it, without letting me do anything else. I have the latest update from hyperion installed already.
If I ignore the DSI error It goes straight to a program crash. I have wizard.library version 51.3 what is the latest version, isn't this for the GUI which loads and works here but the game crashes as soon as it starts.
A1XE G4 800Mhz, 512Mb, Sil0680, ATI9200se 128Mb, Sounblaster Live & Catweazle Mk3 with SID chip +OS4.1. A4000 233MhzPPC/04025Mhz, 112Mb, CyberPPC, OS3.9 Other Amiga's A4000, A2000 A500+, A500 & various hardware. 15+ other retro machines.
I have both the patch installed and the planer option switched off and all I get is a grim reaper at start of launching the game.
Since I don't have the full version, and unlike Shogo and FreeSpace the demo version of Heretic II doesn't include the laucher GUI but is started with a shell script instead, I don't know what the problem could be. Check the tooltypes, maybe it's similar to the Shogo laucher and you have to add the CDDADEVICE and CDDAUNIT tootypes.
IIRC it's using rtgmaster.library, make sure you have the fixed version.
The CD device was set automaticly and shows up in the prefs window, this is correct. I have the fixed RTGmaster libraries installed but I get the same crash if I use them or not. I have uploaded 2 crash logs to OS4Dept, these were using rtgmaster.

It's crashing in lowlevel.library, the OS4 one uses AmigaInput ... If you have the AmigaInput parts from Update4 installed remove them, if not try if installing AmigaInput.library from Update4 helps.
I don't know if Heretic II works without lowlevel.library installed, you could try to remove/rename LIBS:lowlevel.library instead, without AmigaInput it's useless.
