Documents for old Amiga software
Just popping in

While it cant really be denied that Amiga productivity software is maybe a little outdated compared to what's available now for other platforms, we do still have a lot of older software that is quite usable and can give more than adequate results. Lightwave, Image3d, Octamed Studio Pro and PageStream being just the first few that rolled off the top of my head. Nowadays theyre probably even a bit more usable being that your average "amiga" runs 68k software a lot faster than it used to (uae/amithlon/os4 68k emulation/mos 68k emulation/etc.) and is equipped with a lot more RAM. However over the years documentation on these types of software have next to dried up, so minus being lucky enough to find copies somewhere that still have manuals intact it can be tricky to use the potential of this software. Once upon a time though there was a lot of information on this type of software, and it must be out there somewhere still. And this I guess is where I get to the crux of the post. What software in particular would people like to have documentation/tutorials for ?? What would people deem most useful ?? Any thoughts on how to contact old amiga software developers to ask permission to scan and upload manuals in pdf (or other) forms ?? I could go on with similar questions for ever, but Im hoping Ive gotten the jist accross by now

Thanks for any thoughts/ideas and opinions

I'd like a printed manual for ImageFX. I seem to remember that I had one years ago with IFX 2, but I could be wrong. I can't find it and there isn't anything for IFX4.5, so I can only read the (abbreviated) Amigaguide help docs and experiment.

I want something to read in the train.

I've got a humongous black manual for Ifx 3. Worth its weight in gold actually.

Are we nearly there yet ?

Lucky bugger

@thread

Anyone else interested in maybe trying to hoard documentation for amiga productivity software ? I have accumulated a reasonable collection of various bits and pieces over the years, both in printed and electronic forms, but I cant satisfy everyone's needs alone obviously.

Are people interested in this idea, and if so, what would people like to see covered ? Any thoughts on potential legal issues, content, ways to obtain (ergo share) good documentation, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If it's black, then it must be the bee's knees. How many pages do you reckon?

I have two of those somewhere, and have actually just found the Little Blue ImageFX4 getting started Guide,....Me thinks I'll have to see how many other old amiga software manuals I have

Maybe people need to create a list of the Manuals they own?
It would give other people a chance to ask for info/help etc

Good idea in my opinion. Maybe if people can list what they have and are willing to share others may start saying what they'd like and a picture will start to form in regards to what people think is most important to have. Once all this is sorted I can then go on upload what is legally redistributable and try to obtain permission to upload whatever material is sought that is now maybe out of publication.

Guess I'll start the ball (hopefully) rolling.

AMOS manual
AMOS Pro manual
AMOS Pro compiler manual
AMOS IntOS manual
Blitz Basic 2.1 manual
DigiPaint 2.0 manual
Lightwave manual

and others. I'll update later when Im at home.

Google for "LSD Docs Disk". The LSD Docs Disks had manuals for hundreds of apps and games.
