Just can't stay away

This great project http://www.xcore.com/projects/isaflop makes me wonder why the XENA chip on the X1000 couldnt be made to handle the Amiga Floppy interface that currently requires a catweasel.
Lots of work involved (none of which I could do) but is it theoretically possible?

Let's just say Trevor is aware of the idea. :)
What'll happen depends on a few things, really... but it's absolutely possible.
