PCI bug or clue?

Like some other people my Sam440ep has USB problems. I have suspected they are further into
the system than just the USB part. Here is another 'strange' occurrence that is repeatable for both onboard network ports.

Yes,,, I have checked all the related hardware several times in several ways.

I installed a Silicon Image 0680 ide card. Seagate HD. Installed OS4+Upgrades.
Connected and have working a network connection on port0.
No problems.

Just for grins I wanted to move the connection to port1. Again, no problems. Okay, back to port0.

Problem! I forgot to move the cable, and here is what happens if there is no
hard connection on either port. Keep in mind this is off the sii0680ide.

System >Internet >New connection >Ethernet >next >Automatic configuration
>next Dialer popup 'Searching for ethernet adapters...'

And Then another window pops up
---------------------------------------------------
Smart Filesystem request

Volume 'System' (DH0: sii0680ide.device, unit 0)

There was an error while accessing this volume:

General device failure.
The disk is in unreadable format.

errorcode = 20
io_Command = 2
io_Offset = 20940800
io_Length = 1024
io_Actual = 0
---------------------------------------------------

Only a hard reset will get things back to normal.

A 3key reset gets a software failure error:870B 0000 task:0x0000 0000

I suggest pointing-out this post to Rigo or another OS4 developer, so they don't miss it. I'm sure they LOVE repeatable problems, because then they can find & fix the problem (if it isn't already fixed).

Can you tell me which version of sii0680ide.device you have there?

That's a real problem. I looked around for a while before posting here.

Bugs, , , Who do you report bugs to, and where ? ? ?

It's GOT to be more obvious than ' go try to find the person that has
something to with your problem'.

sii0680ide.device 53.3 (05.02.2009)

There are no other problems with it, and IT may not be the problem.

Never mind Chris, , , Rigo found me. : )

OK, well I thought I knew what the problem might be, but I cannot reproduce it here on my XE with 0680 controller.

Unfortunately I do not have a Flex to try this on, but I'll make sure it gets checked once the 4.1 update 1 ISO goes into testing.

Thanks for pointing this out.
