3.29 (19.6.2010) - Fixed bugs.os4depot.net issue #380 "Downloads end before
completed".
- Fixed #474 "Local file dont work anymore".
- Fixed #518 "DSI crash opening MAILTO:".
- Fixed #519 "W3Schools: Resize window".
- Fixed #522 "Local files with umlauts not useable".
- Fixed #523 "2) Cannot paste anything in the message body field".
- Fixed #524 "Greater-than symbol on failed to resolve page".
- Removed some Chinese, Japanese and Korean charsets from icudata.owb,
if you need them keep using version 1.4 or 1.1.

Just to be sure, what does this mean? "Removed some Chinese, Japanese and Korean charsets from icudata.owb"
Does it mean that these people won't be able to use this OWB?
I'm asking because I know a japanese Amigan.

Thanks for the update :) However bug #474 isnt fixed. At least it dont work loading local files from my jfx partitions. Can more people test this and confirm. I added a new bug

It depends on the encoding used on the pages. If they are using UTF-8, which seems to be the case for most pages, they still work, but if they are using a special charset like for example http://kr.yahoo.com/ it doesn't work with the new icudata.owb.

If you have enough RAM and need it you can still use the older versions of icudata.owb with the current version of OWB, but most users don't need it and the new, smaller versions help on classic Amigas, especially A4000 with only 128 MB RAM.

No idea, but users with AmigaOS 4.1 and at least 512 MB RAM can use a complete web browser (Timberwolf) instead of OWB now.

Not for me, TW is currently an alpha release, that means it is "unusable" for a normal browsing

But I know it seems we are forced to use it

OWB is the number one browser until Timberwolf bugs gets fixed.

OWB is the fastest browser on my computer, all it really needs is a download manager, and maybe plugin support.

Timberwolf has integrated spell checker.

I hope your _not_ thinking about stopping development on OWB.

It works from RAM, SFS but doesn't work from JXF partition.

Same on my system. I can open local files from my FFS partition or my SFS partition or my RamDisk but not my JXFS partitions.

There is a way to open files on my JXFS partitions using the file:// url. Since I got shot down last time, I will let you guys figure it out for yourselves.

Just installed it and it made me smile. Previous releases failed but this one will let you login to your WordPress acount and use it without any problems. I just love it. Great work!

I have a question: Why is OWB so extremely slow on sliding overlay stuff like for example showing a picture slideshow like on this page:

OWB does this so slow that you can barely see each picture until it changes to the next..

Is it lack of HW accelerated Cairo? Personally I can hardly believe that CPU-driven 2D stuff like this should be that slow on an 800MHz G4.

(BTW. TimberWolf doesn't even work on slideshows like this yet it seems...)

Timberwolf Alpha 1 is no way a serious replacement for OWB... for now.

*If* Timberwolf becomes as fast, efficient & stable as OWB, then maybe you can stop worrying about us OS4.1/512MB users.

I've implemented the AmigaOS 4.x parts of the plugin support in OWB, there are just no AmigaOS 4.x NPAPI plugins yet.

It's not slower with OWB than with Iceweasel on Linux on the same hardware.
No idea if it would be faster with hardware accelleration enabled, but since that's only supported in AmigaOS 4.1 I can't use it in OWB anyway.

I love to play whit this, I have access to some plug ins.

Isn't possible to use hardware accelleration on the same version only when it's needed ?

For example:

if OS 4.1.1+ detected --> enable hardware acceleration
if not (for example on AmigaOS 4.0) --> not use any

As you already doing with close gadget in tabs, well it's a different thing but I just mean the method used

Actually I just retried with Timberwolf alpha 1 and it does work, although buggy, and it looks about twice as fast as OWB. It looks as if it is skipping frames in the resizing and fading of the overlay.
