OS4.1, Iconify Gadget and Other WB Inconsistencies
Just popping in
Just popping in

See User information
I just noticed some inconsistencies:

No Iconify Gadget
ScreenBlanker Prefs
PlayCD
Clock
USBInspector
Mounter
Format
Picasso96Mode (but old program)
shell (old)
Workbench windows(old)

Iconify Gadget does not work:
PrefsObjectsEditor

Iconify Icon (does not use *.info) but shows pictures of a shell
RawDisk
PartitionWizard
Also, for some reason uses old 3.1 "Busy" disk icon when "checking" disk even though deficon is loaded (does not always happen).

Also, the location of where the program will iconify on the WB screen is not the same...seems like Unarc, IconEdit uses the *.info location. Other programs just place to the far left.

"Installer" log files create the ugly 3.1 icons...probably some of these older programs should be scrubbed through to utilze the new OS4.1 icons.

I was bored and used the scroll arrows with the "backdrop" off in WB....and found that it wraps around after awhile....interesting. It looks like this is true of any WB drawer window as well. The only issue when it is in this state, is double-clicking the icon is non-responsive.

Not that it matters--but protection bits are different for group and others. As an example:

You must have had a day with nothing to do!

'Many of the older programs you have listed were recompiled from old 68K sources when Iconify gadgets were not easily available to the programmer.

I wonder what is the command or application that produced that "list" of protection bits? Since it lists fields like Owner and Group that are not implemented in OS4, it hardly seems like a valid listing.

The location of the "iconified" program icon can not be specified - it goes where Workbench can find a free spot.

Only if do_CurrentX and do_CurrentY on the icon are set to NO_ICON_POSITION which is the value recommended in the autodocs (workbench.library/AddAppIconA).

It's the standard C:List command used with the USERS and GROUPS switches. So yes, I'd consider it a valid listing ;)

Just a free evening :) ... there are definitely way better things to do to improve OS4 as these things are so very minor.

Type "list users groups" in a shell.
