c:search template
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Is this the correct behaviour:

Quote:

13.AmigaOS4:> search from sys: search filer all file
AmigaOS4:Prefs/FilerPrefs
AmigaOS4:Prefs/FilerPrefs.info
AmigaOS4:Prefs/Presets/tbimages/fileremove_h

13.AmigaOS4:> search from sys: search filer all file pattern
AmigaOS4:Prefs/Env-Archive/AppDir/Filer
AmigaOS4:Storage/Backups/c/Filer
AmigaOS4:C/Filer
AmigaOS4:Trashcan/Filer

or shouln't it be the exact contrary, or better the first quote be produced (as it also is) by this:

Quote:

13.AmigaOS4:> search from sys: search filer#? all file pattern
AmigaOS4:Prefs/FilerPrefs
AmigaOS4:Prefs/FilerPrefs.info
AmigaOS4:Prefs/Presets/tbimages/fileremove_h

AmigaOS4:Storage/Backups/c/Filer.info
AmigaOS4:Storage/Backups/c/Filer
AmigaOS4:C/Filer.info
AmigaOS4:C/Filer

and what does this in the help/manual file mean?

Quote:

FORMAT
SEARCH [FROM] <name|pattern> [SEARCH|NAME] <string|pattern>
[ALL] [NONUM] [QUIET] [QUICK] [FILE] [PATTERN] [CASE]

Am I misinterpreting something since:

13.AmigaOS4:> search from sys: name filer#? all file pattern
AmigaOS4:Prefs/FilerPrefs
AmigaOS4:Prefs/FilerPrefs.info
AmigaOS4:Prefs/Presets/tbimages/fileremove_h

AmigaOS4:Prefs/Env-Archive/AppDir/FilerCX
AmigaOS4:Utilities/Commodities/FilerCX

AmigaOS4:Storage/Backups/Utilities/Commodities/FilerCX
AmigaOS4:Storage/Backups/c/Filer.info
AmigaOS4:Storage/Backups/c/Filer
AmigaOS4:C/Filer.info
AmigaOS4:C/Filer
AmigaOS4:Trashcan/Filer
SEARCH: object not found

this last one gives the same results as
Quote:
13.AmigaOS4:> search from sys: name filer all file

note: putting the search string in quotes ( "filer#?" ) has the same result, obviously

@Amigo1

Why bother ?

list sys: all files lformat=%p%n p=filer

does exactly what you ask for.

"Search" initially was only meant to search strings in files. To search file names "List" is the better choice IMHO.

Ok, I can agree to use "List", but then for the sake of completeness the manuals should be updated and the file-search feature hiden in "Search" itself?

Another assignement for OpenAmiga?
