How to tell Update state of Amiga OS 4.1?

I haven't turned my SAM on for awhile and cannot find my notes to remind me what Updates have been installed.

As I understand things the Updates have to be installed in the correct order and reinstalling from the original disk then running only Update 5 then Update 6 would not be correct?

Is there an easy way to tell the which Updates have been installed?

Or in the Workbench title line (at least if your installation is not too ancient).

Best regards,

Unless He's edited it, at least the workbench about isn't user changeable.

As explained, using About in menus, or looking at the title. Harder ways are by looking at certain versions of Workbench and other libraries, with someone that can tell you what are the most recent versions (e.g. Workbench and Kickstart library).

If I do remember correctly, SAM 440 came with Update 1 CD, so yes, you would need to download all archives and install them correctly from Hyperion website. Good news is after Update 6, you will have an automatic updates set.

Boy we gonna love that OS 4.2 CD once its out for fresh installs and reinstalls

Open the About window on the Workbench.
If it says "Kickstart 53.15", you have Update 2.
From Update 3, it says the update number in clear form.

I don't have details for Update 1. If someone has such information, I'll be happy to know

Next time you do a clean install and update it just run amidvd and back it up to a cd... That way a complete clean reinstall is simple, boot from the cd, when the os4 splash screen comes up hold down ctrl to get to shell. format your old sys: eg. DH0: partition and then copy sys: dh0: all.
Simple!

@Severin
That won't be exactly the same as a fresh install. Instead of the links in SYS:SObjs you will have duplicate files.

FWIW, I wrote a little Shell-only program called AmigaAttributes for backing-up (& restoring!) all links & Amiga-specific protection flags. It's on my homepage.
