It WILL speed-up things in CERTAIN cases: Mainly when the Sam440's built-in 64MB of video ram runs out (so Picasso96 has to start storing graphics in non-video ram, which is slooow), a Radeon 9250 with 128MB (or more) would be faster.
You are more likely to run out of 64MB of video ram if you use 24/32-bit screens, and have Compositing enabled. I got good results by just using 16-bit screens, and disabling Compositing (except for Workbench thanks to a trick which I probably posted years ago).
3D games (especially Quake 3) tend to be very hungry for video ram, so most likely to benefit from Radeon 9250 in that case.
