Updater won't run

Amigakit helped me straighten out my AMIsphere password issue. . . more or less. They asked me to remove the A-EON directory from ENVARC:

Well, now I can log into AMIstore. But even though the password works with AMIstore, I can't get Updater to run. Before deleting the ENVARC: A-EON directory, Updater just kept looping and asking for my credentials over and over again.

Now that I have deleted that directory, Updater (and the mouse, system) freezes as soon as the window opens.

I've tried running Updater also from the downloaded Enhancer pack software, and from the shell. Doesn't make any difference. Hard reboot before each try.

Help, please!

Paul

I get a crash here aswell.
One that takes the system down so hard, that not even Grimmy can get up his chair.

Serial tells what is going on, though.
Seems listviewer.gadget is bombing...wasn't that updated lately?

Listview class can’t render the list, most likely because the list was not created correctly, as result of failing to open the prefs files.

This AEON updates scares me, and I feel they are unnecessary, and bugs in AmiStore and Updater and ecosystem that created around it, it make me want to not buy stuff from AmiStore, I also see it as unsafe put credit card details into any Amiga web browser.

Based on what you put here, I replaced layout.gadget, listbrowser.gadget, and Updater with older versions (reboot, of course.) Still get the constant loop of asking for my credentials over and over again.

Is A-eon working on this? (rhetorical question to A-eon)

Yes, since the "change" of the login system a few days ago it's now running in circles (did anyone ever explain *what* was changed?).

@LiveForIt

Taken directly out of my mouth.

I feel like i'm being abused as beta tester all the way from one "company" while left out in the rain from another.
Both on commercial and paid products.

Sure, there are *tiny* updates, sure there is "movement", but what do i care for gadgets whose full potential will only be used in programs (updates) meant for and released in Enhancer 2?
That's just bs*itting with the customers once again...throwing out small unimportant updates so no one can say there are no updates...yeah, not that those gain anything for us mere users.
(Draw new buyers for the upcoming E2...tell them what the updated gadgets will unlock in those programs only available in E2...sneaky, at best)

But hey, they are doing a really great job and i am sure i don't know what i'm talking about
/sarcasm off

But that's for another thread
