Mplayer, sound & mp4

Just can't stay away

Some time ago my Mplayer worked ok, (sound & mp4)

now it does work on .mpg file but no sound & it does not work on .mpf file.

When i play a dvd with dvplayer, i can hear the sound of the .mpg file mixed with the dvd sound.

Things probably got mixed up with a previous OS4 update.
What can i check ?

The mp4 problem seems to be solved: i was testing with a corrupt file probably, an othe file works OK,

still no sound
Looked at the AHI prefs, the testsound works OK (as does the sound of dvplayer) Help

How do you start mplayer (shell, gui)? Do you have entries in conf/config ?

I start it from workbench (MPlayer-Gui icon)

I just have a remark in conf/config
