Seems that there is QT port for OS4, so would it be easy task to port KOffice to OS4? Or are there other dependencies wich makes porting it to OS4 difficult?
Easier and faster task than Open Office? I belive it is feature rich enough to be usefull Office suite.
It has support for both MS/Open Office file formats etc.
I did search here, no actual results, in amigaworld there has been discussion about it in year 2006
Following are the general must-have dependencies for Calligra:
Qt 4.6.0 or newer kdelibs and kdelibs development files the minimal requirement is currently 4.3.0, any 4.3, 4.4 or 4.5 release packaged in your distribution is OK On opensuse the development package is called libkde4-devel; on Ubuntu and Debian it is called kdelibs5-dev. (TODO: add info for other distributions) Calligra should also build fine with either kdelibs from git repository (see techbase for an explanation on how to compile kdelibs from svn), needed for parts of Calligra build with the Mobile Frameworks Profile of the KDE platform (kword, kspread, kpresenter, krita) kdebase/runtime 4.3 or newer cmake 2.6.2 or newer lcms 1.18 or newer libpng development package (libpng14-devel on opensuse, libpng-dev on Ubuntu/Debian) development packages for other libraries may be needed; on ubuntu/Debian these can be installed using 'apt-get build-dep kdelibs5'
For Tables:
libeigen 2.0
For Krita:
libeigen 2.0 libexiv2 >= 0.16 libqimageblitz
For Stage:
boost
For Kexi:
sqlite3 and sqlite3-devel packages (package names can differ on various distributions), version >= 3.6.16
What version is the qt port? And the cmake port? The other parts required are like chinese for me atleast. No idea what they are. And i doubt we have them allready.
Qt 4.7 CMake 2.8.5 liblcms 1.17 (shouldn't be a problem to update, my local one might actually be newer already) libpng 1.4 we have, not sure how up-to-date it is though sqlite is around somewhere too
It is funny that search results here and aw are near zero. So it seems that anyone hasn't consider porting it to AOS. It is almost like there wouldn't be any other possibilites than OpenOffice
No the title isnt Koffice but if you are interested in porting an office suit to OS4 i think that person would notice my comment in that thread. I think there are other reasons why they havent done it yet. I think i also mentioned it in a QT-thread but i m not 100% sure.
Anyway i hope Alfkill will give us some good news in the near future
Office suite would make upcoming netbook much more atractive for endduser from outside of amiga community.
OO woun't be ready for that, but maybe KOffice could?
it would be a huge coup. the ability to work with modern file formats and have a modern office suite -- even if only the word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation tools -- would be the biggest thing to happen to OS4 in a very long time. combined with timberwolf, the combination would enable people -- myself included -- to actually replace their PCs with amiga NG systems.
and if both had OS4 themes, so they looked and felt like native applications, so much the better. i'd happily contribute substantial funds to a bounty for the porting of calligra words, stage, and tables to our platform. who's with me here?
maybe a project of this magnitude could interest alfkil and kas1e, among others? come on, fellows, name your price: we'll raise the money!
