Cannot copy back large files to USB stick

I had some very large files in my previous windoze system, so I had to copy them to my USB stick and then to my X1000 computer. Everything went fine without any problems.

The problem is when I tried yesterday to copy those very large files back to my USB stick, simply it can't.

USB stick is being formatted previously under WinXP with FAT32 file system, but I re-formatted it again under X1000 using the format option from the Workbench, but again, it refuses to write very large files (almost 1GB each one).

Any ideas why is this happening? Just to say that I can write smaller files without any problem.

I'm using DOpus copy facility. It just pops up with a message that my USB0: volume either is full or has a read/write error etc. Didn't try with Shell though.

@Phantom
If you format a USB stick with OS4, it's likely not to work on other OS. The CrossDos docs recommend to only format on a Windows system. Does the large file copy work with C:Copy ?

@xenic

Surprisingly it works on my WinXP at work. Will try via the C:Copy at night to see what will happen.

Do you have the possibility of tryng another stick?

I had the same problem with some low quality sticks which were failing alot (funny enough only) on AmigaOS4...reformatting fixed the issues, but not for long.

I got rid of them...

btw, Win seems to be more forgiving when i comes to low quality sticks.

Will try with another Stick, as it seems that either Copy from shell worked. I left it for over 3 hours copying but nothing at all.

I wonder if there's correlation between "successfully writing on X1000" and "mounting device on A1XE without problems or extra tricks". Because "some" simply mount immediately (= some seconds if it has somewhat large capacity), at least on the USB 1.1 hub.

Please share type and size of the usb stick. Maybe others have tested the same stick.

It's a Kingston DataTraveller 4GB USB stick.

I forgot to mention that I'm using USB via a card reader, so that's possibly the problem. I connected my stick straight to one of the USB hubs from behind and everything seems to work as normal.

DataTraveler G3 is good for A1XE if someone is considering.
