Leave out arexx script /icon

When you open say the rex: drawer all files appear with a arexx deficon.
When you leave them out, open "information" define the launch method (arexx, WB or shell) and save that info , the script gets a real icon.
None of the settings above, on trial, make it possible to launch the script from WB, by just double clicking it.

What am i doing wrong?

1. Make sure it's tool icon or if it's a project icons it has a default tool
2. Make sure the script bit is set.

Tool icon is best for launching scripts from icocs.

I did change the icontype of envarc:sys/def_arexx to project, and set the default tool to RX
Guess this will work

My def_arexx is unchanged (tool icon). I left out SYS:S/ARexx/CloseAllDrawers.rexx, opened "information" and saved (without changing anything). When I doubleclicked the "left-out" icon and selected execute in the resulting requester, all my Workbench windows were closed. I don't see any problem.

the "leave out" in fact has nothing to do with it.


I have the same problem clicking on a deficon (feebly rendered) in the rexx: drawer. eg closealldrawers.rexx

What icontype does def_arexx in envarc:sys have ? here it is 'tool'
Which is translated in the rexx : drawer to 'arexx'

i can't set a default tool and the 3 settings "start from" work as described.

Start from "arexx" is preset.

Did you label your system partition to get rid of the spaces like we advised in your "LIST FORMAT %P" topic?? If not, you're going to continue to have ARexx problems.

EDIT: My ENVARC:def_arexx.info has a Type of "Tool", Start From: is ARexx and there are no Tooltypes.

Same here; deficon is tool, start from is ARexx, ask for arguments checked.

And I can start the scripts just fine from WB by double-clicking their default icons.

Do remember that the actual ARexx script files need the S, E and R bits set as a minimum.

Strictly speaking it needs only the S and R bits set, it will then start from workbench or from shell, but WBRun has bug which causes it to ask for E as well so if running from filer or other app using WBrun you need the E bit set too.
