Hello, do people still use IRC, and what channels are you guys normally on?

I ask because the IRC on from this website foes not seem to work for me. There is an IRC link at the top of this website.

@rjd324 Which client do you use? What kind of errors do you get? If you are using the link "IRC Window", which browser you are using, because I doubt it works with Amiga browsers.

Okay, if irc.amigans.net is meant to forward me on to SE.AmigaWorld.net, then I guess there is no issue. Joining #amigaworld.

Did you try Pidgin for AmiCygnix? Nope... but then again... nothing beats the retro feel of IRC.
I use discord mainly on my X86 machines.

@origin Right, I am confused by that. All I know is that I am in a room named "#amigaworld" (SE.AmigaWorld.net), if that is where most people from here are then that is fine. I'll consider pidgin at some point too.

@rjd324 Just type "/list" (without quote marks) to get the current list of channels. #6

@all Pidgin was working with Discord last year but recently it would join the channels but not show and posts. I use AmIRC on my Amiga for IRC and Discord webapp for that. Anyone have better luck with Pidgin? Cheers, Bill "tekmage" Borsari

@tekmage For me, pidgin brings the messages from a channel, but when I write something, this is not visible to the other users. So, it doesn't work quite well right now. I'd love to see an update on it.

@walkero How do you login to discord? When i try pidgin says: Need CAPTCHA to login. Consider using harmony first, then retry. I have a slightly updated version of pidgin that works with messenger again. Would be nice to try it with discord too.

@smf I've downloaded and ported the latest discord plugin for pidgin. The author startet to implement an authorisation process using a QR code, but it is not finished yet. As far as I know, discord wants to make a special authorisation, when you login with a certain device the first time. It seems it uses CAPTCHAs and/or QR codes for this. I don't know, how we can handle this as I don't have a discord account.

@smf What I did was to create an account and add it by selecting discord. But I did this when the latest pidgin was released. Maybe, back then there was no CAPTCHAS required. I can give it a try again when cygnused release a newer version.
