Full version of old DVPlayer

Quite a regular

Hi everyone,

The new DVPlayer is unfortunately not compatible with my Sam. Does anyone know where one can get a full version of DVPlayer which supports AmigaOS 4 setups without RadeonRX or RadeonHD Southern Islands graphics cards? Thanks in advance.

Uh they removed support for the old R100/R200 video cards in the new version?
Why?

Here is the information about what is needed to run DVPlayer:

Required Hardware

● X1000, X5000, A1222+ or Sam 460 computer system
● 1GB Memory
● RadeonRX graphics card or RadeonHD Southern Islands **
● Enhancer Software V2 or later.
● OS 4.1 or later
● Hard disk drive with 20MB or more free space

** Important: RadeonHD v4 or better driver required for RadeonHD SI compatability.

Do you mean it is possible to run it on other systems as well?

I am not sure this is available to buy it anymore. I haven't seen a demo version of the new release.

As an alternative, I would suggest trying the demo version of the Emotion video player and see if it works fine for you

Old version of DVPlayer 0.72 is on AmigaOS 4.1 FE install CD, in Extras directory.

I have this on my AmigaOneXE. But I am not using it, it can play only older video formats.
I am using MPlayer instead.

AmigaOS3: Amiga 1200
AmigaOS4: Micro A1-C, AmigaOne XE, Pegasos II, Sam440ep, Sam440ep-flex, AmigaOne X1000
MorphOS: Efika 5200b, Pegasos I, Pegasos II, Powerbook, Mac Mini, iMac, Powermac Quad

I don't have access to the latest release but if you confirm that it still works on older systems then fine

What version are you using?
I don't remember aeon ever released a demo. you are probably using a very old version...

That's the requirements to use hardware accelerated video decoding. DvPlayer can fallback to software decoding, and none of the code for older hardware has been removed.

I don't have older hardware to test it on, but anyone with DvPlayer can test the software decoding by temporarily removing the va.library from LIBS: (and rebooting if needed to flush it from memory).

I originally registered DVPlayer when all I had was an old Sam440ep and it worked on that. It wasn't a great experience with the higher res videos but it still worked :D
