The main problem with all the existing Amiga word processors is lack of modern printer support (which is really more of a problem with the OS). Not that it's impossible, but rather just a complex minefield.
I am using Final Writer 97 with my X1000 and TurboPrint and a laser printer. It's working very well. No mouse wheel support is a tad disappointing, but the word processor otherwise is a joy to use. Increasing horizontal and vertical Screen DPI to 144 (thanks, Severin!) in View preferences/Display makes things look really nice on my modern-sized monitor.
And, yes, I would gladly pay for an updated version of Final Writer and any of the old Softwood programs for that matter. Too bad we don't have a current TurboPrint -- that would be a winner.
I remember at the time Escom purchased Amiga, there was some company who purchased the rights to Softwood products and was going to sell them combined on a CD-Rom. Does anyone else remember that?
Their software is top notch, It would be perfect with updates to it And maybe even a choice to bundle 68K and PPC versions would bring in many paying patrons. Nice Work! You will be a legend!
@terminills That's great news. Hope you can find the time and you have the pation to update these fine programs for all amiga flavors. I surely would put my money on this software.
Really great news, dreams come true! Always hoped that this will happen one day! I bought and used all versions of Final Writer (and Final Copy, too) up to V. 97 and was very satisfied with them. Thanks for your effort!
To be honest I never liked Finalwriter, it never seemed 'amiga like' more windozy to me but I'll be happy to help out with beta testing when you get to that stage.
FinalData I used quite a bit though.
