(permanently) open bookmarks

how can i permanently open the bookmars sidebar?
it has unfortunately no (visible) menu shortcut

CTRL-D?

and it will stay open after i close and restart (though i haven't been able to add something to the list yet)

try CTRL-B

CTRL-D is to make/add a bookmark.

ctrl-b did not work - it should.
but accessing it via the menu did! view->sidebar->bookmarks.
accessing the menu works fine when using mous + keyboard (cursor-keys + return). just clicking with the mouse does not work.
bookmarks are now open
