I have received my Vision Tek Radeon 3D Hd 7750 card (slim profile) and downloaded the Radeon HD Southern Island drivers.
Could someone tell me in which order I need to prepare my system and install the card?
I understand that I need to install the SI drivers first, but my doubt is if that would affect the use of my SAM460ex while I find the time to do the actual installation of the card?
I will have a computer technician at a shop nearby doing the card installation, as I still don't feel comfortable messing around with the hardware. I will do this this Friday.
Ypu can just install the 3d driver now. But check that you have the latest radeonhd 2d driver installed also. I think the 3d drivers require them. And then install the gfx card. And you should be ready to have fun. Doesn't matter if you install the 3d driver before or after you install the gfx card.
1. Early today I updated my RadeonHD.chip to 2.10 and I can see that it was installed correctly, by checking the version in shell.
2. After installing radeonhd 2.1, I downloaded next RadeonHD Southern Islands and installed
3. After running the installation of Warp3D Southern Islands, i got a message saying that installation was complete, but after swapping the old Gygabyte GV-4650C-GI, with my new Vision Tek HD 7750 PCIE 1GB GDDR5 SFF, all I get is a black screen.
Am I missing something? Did I forget to do something prior to swapping cards?

No, you've followed all the steps that you should have.
When you say "black screen," do you not even see the UBOOT screen? Or, do you get a black screen after it has loaded all AmigaOS kickstart modules?
Incidentally, what type of output are you using to connect to the monitor? VGA? HDMI/DVI? DisplayPort? NOTE: DisplayPort is currently unsupported.
EDIT: Since you're using a Sam460, I remember that older versions of UBoot had trouble with some Radeon HD cards. More recent versions have improved Radeon HD support. I have no idea which versions, or how to check. So, you should talk with other Sam460 owners who have experienced similar problems.
Okay, that sounds like a UBoot issue or possibly even a faulty card.
A few things to check: - Does the card work in another machine? - Your 7750 may or may not have an auxiliary power connector. If it does, then it won't work unless you have that connected to the power supply - Check with ACube or other Sam460 owners regarding which UBoot version you're using. Like I said, more recent versions of UBoot have improved support for Radeon HD cards.
Same problem here... Sometimes, but not all the time, my Sam boots, loads Kickstarts and then, no Signal, black screen.... If I reboot my Sam460 => same problem, If I switch off completely and switch on, then, it works. I'm connected in HDMI but this problem appears even in DVI... The difference between Amigo and me is that I can see the kickstarts loading... Any Ideas ? Thanks

ACube did a new Uboot for Sam460/AmigaOne 500 The new version called 2015.a (Uboot versioning) has the following features: ... - better compatibility with newer Radeon HD graphic cards - introduced a new menu entry to change the x86 gfx BIOS emulator accuracy. If your graphic card show some visual problems on startup, try increasing the x86 BIOS emulator accuracy. ...
Unfortunately, it not seems to change anything ... One Of my Amiga franch friend tell me that I should only keep VGA output and I won't have any problems... I'm going to test VGA mode..

Guys, this is my card: VisionTek 900549 Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129263) and it's listed in Hans'list of compatible cards, and also reported working by other SAM460EX users.
To answer the other question, yes, I just finished testing the card in a beefed up gaming PC and the card works (under power for that beats gaming system, but works fine).
Am I the only lucky one who can't make it work in a SAM460EX?

I managed to update the UBoot after verifying that my SAM460ex is a 50 baseclock. Thanks to Jabirulo for pointing out in a different forum, that I needed to make the utility executable.
Now I have to wait for my son to give a me hand swapping the gfx card back in again. My son is in the business of building gaming PC's, so is very handy with hardware upgrades.
I'll let you know how it goes later. Fingers crossed.
UPDATE July 5th, 2015 - 4:49 PM Pacific Time After completing UBoot update, we put the VisionTek HD7750 gfx card, but again no luck. We tried connecting to the monitor with HDMI, DVI and VGA, with no results in either case.
There is no signal from the computer to the monitor.
The 7750 card was tested again in a PC and it works fine.
Could any other user of the same VisionTek HD7750 PCI and SAM460EX share details of his connection?

Put your old graphic card, turn on firstly your computer screen, then, turn your Sam on and press Return when prompt. Be careful ! Read your Sam manual => the keyboard must be in a specific usb port (at the right of the backplate), because some keyboards won't respond during UBoot if there are on the worse usb port... This could be very important to manage to go into UBoot prefs
In menu prefs : video => Boot from graphics card : PCI/PCI-E Below => Choose with keyboard PCI-E 1x / SATA-2
The final thing important is to open your J16 pin on your motherboard (have you got a pci SATA card sil3114, 3112 or 3115 ?).

This is exactly what my UBoot > Video Preferences show:
video => Boot from graphics card : PCI/PCI-E And below => PCI-E 1x / SATA-2
I don't know how to check the J16 pin. No idea of where to look.
