After I almost bid more than $800 on a Cyberstorm PPC the news about OS4.1/Sam440ep came out.
Well, the Sam board sells for $680. Compared to the Cyberstorm it's quite a bargain actually
The recommended VGA card for OS4.1 is a Radeon 9250. Different vendors build those, like HSI, Saphire, Diamond to name a few. Will either one of them work?
There are also versions with 256MB and DVI. Is DVI supported by OS4.1?
Now, I realize nobody has OS4.1 running on a Sam440ep yet. But maybe some of the lucky AmigaOne owners have some good advice
And one last question. Does OS4.1 support widescreen resolutions?
I have a Sapphire 9250 PCI 256MB and it works great in OS 4.1. DVI is supported and yes, widescreen resolutions are possible by adding the MODE= tooltypes in the monitor file.
I think you would be happy with the 9250 256MB version :)
Just to make certain, DVI is better than using a VGA cable?
Also, how do I redirect to DVI? Does it have anything to do with UBoot? And I should probably save my screen res to 640*480 before switching over?
I want to attach it to a 1366*768 max. res LCD TV. Is 1024*768 the best picture I can get?
Support Amiga Fantasy cases!!! How to program: 1. Start with lots and lots of 0's. 10. Add 1's, liberally. "Details for OS 5 will be made public in the fourth quarter of 2007, ..." - Bill McEwen Whoah!!! He spoke, a bit late.

Depends on the LCD TV...
I mean, does AOS4 make 1366*768 res images?

What about Radeon 8500? Its performance should be even better as the 9xxx series are "downgraded" from 8500, AFAIK.
Is the Radeon 8500 compatible with A1-XE/OS4.1?
According to THIS TABLE the best choice would be Radeon 8500 or 8500 LE (which is almost the same as 9100). Are those compatible with OS4.1 and its composition feature?
And one last question. Does OS4.1 support widescreen resolutions?
It does, but you have to suffer squished pictures until you can alter the tooltypes on the relevant Monitor in DEVS:, as the installer only lists four 4:3 ratio resolutions (is this something for the next version / update ?)
my 17" eMachines WXGA is quite happy with the 1280x720@56 Hz mode I gave the Radeon driver.
