svideo or composite from VGA ?

Hi All,
I just got a PCI video capture card (redstone 5.0 DC10+) and would like to use it to record the output of my radeon 9000 pro from my A1XEG4.
My radeon has VGA/DVI/SVideo connectors and the DC10+ has SVideo and Composite as IN and OUT.

I connected the SVideo of my radeon to the SVideo of the DC10+ but there is nothing on the screen.
The card is working because I could capture from the composite port with my compact camera.

I searched a bit for a VGA to SVideo or composite cable and they DO exist but from what I understood, the gfx card driver must output the TV-Out signal through the VGA port.

So before I purchase such cable, can someone tell me wether our driver has this feature or if the SVideo is supported at all ?

Lio,

I don't think you will able to record anything from the svideo nor the composite as the driver does'nt support it.

You have to use a capture card which record from a vga connector.

You can of course get VGA-to-TV converters, some of which will have SVideo outputs. Just check make sure to check what resolutions & refresh rates are supported.

the problem with converters is that they are expensive !

ideally I would just need a simple VGA to SVIDEO cable but the gfx card has to send the TV OUT signal thorugh the VGA in order to work, and that is my question ?

see description of this 2£ cable :

Note: Please be sure to check the manual of your system to make sure the Video Card of your system supports TV (RCA/S-Video) output through VGA port. Not every Video card will work with this VGA to S-Video Converter. Only certain Video cards which have TV Output function built into VGA port will work through this adaptor.

I don't think this cable will help. (If I remember well, I already tested one on my microA1). It's not a problem of video card but of driver.

Here is what to expect with a VGA > SVIDEO converter :

and with a VGA capture card :
