AHI and SB128 (CT4760)

This card came with my X5000. It plays through the yellow port when I set AHI Unit 0 to 'EMU10kx:16 bit Stereo++', but the sound is garbled, there is noise on the channel and the volume is very, very low.

Is it a faulty card or is there some trick to fix it?

I have tried the SB128 driver on os4depot, but I didn't have any luck. According to this page

Aros AHI driver list

...the emu10kx driver is the on to use for this card. Either there is some strange issue, or it is a faulty card.

Yes, the sb live is a audigy card but the sb 128 is not (I think there is model called sb 128 live which is a renamed sb live card).

What are you plugging into the yellow connector, it sounds as if it is the wrong connector for whatever you are plugging into it.
The one closet to the d-sub is rear-out (powered speakers or amplifier), the next one up is line-out (amplifier, powered speakers and headphones), then mic-in, line-in and digital-in.
Try this link for a manual.

Not an actual solution to your problem, but I'd personally ditch the card and instead get a SoundBlaster Audigy FX, which is supported by Harald Kanning's new HD audio driver. The card's sound is great considering the low price.

I might take on your excellent suggestion for a new studio setup I am dreaming of. Just need a place to put all the stuff... ;)

BTW the card works now. Must have been gnomes in the machinery.

I just stumbled on this old thread. Seems the link to the HD Audio driver is lost. Is there some new contact?

There is an HDAudio.audio driver in the A-EON's Enhancer Software package: https://wiki.amiga.org/index.php?title=Enhancer_Software

I think that'll work with SoundBlaster Audigy FX, but I'm not 100% sure.
