Yucky green.

Now what about a display? I see no mention of a built-in M9 or other graphics adaptor. Are we meant to use a PCI graphics card?

If so, are the PCI slots "old-style" PCI or PCI-E?

Interesting, funny today I could not find SAM on Amigakit's site at all. I wonder if they are about to just move to Flex as the base board? Lucky I have an 9250 PCI card.

I hope not. I ordered a sam440ep on 26th November and I'm still waiting for it.

I already have a mini-ITX case, SATA DVD drive and harddrive, USB keyboard and mouse and a KVM switch (VGA/USB/audio) for when it hopefully does arrive.

No, I don't think so, in that case surely ACube will advice that before, don't worry about "old's" Sam440

@all:

There is no plan to stop Sam 440EP productions for the moment :)

The Sam flex board are not supposed to replace the 440EP models at all.

For the PCI slot, these are 2 x 33Mhz 5V compatible one and one 66Mhz 5V compatible one, there is no integrated graphic chipset on these boards.

Take a good care that the boards are delivered without memory and without graphic card, you must purchase these separatly ;)

As soon as we have our prices, we'll put these products on our webshop ;)

Best wishes for 2009 :)

Thanks. My comments were purely speculation given the lack of feedback to the community on back orders and from the lack of updates on relevant sites. I can well understand why some people are "nervous" about their orders given little feedback from ACube or their suppliers.

ACube are seeking distributors worldwide but have not advised on back orders (delays expected etc) to actual customers. This behavior will make many old time Amigans think again before ordering as we have been through this all to often in the past. BTW I do have a SAM on order.

I have also emailed several times re the fixing of my G4 module, I had one reply which stated they have no more spares but I have had no further replies on my inquiries as to whether they expect any new modules in the future. I find the lack of response quite rude and disappointing and I am really considering my future participation in the Amiga market.

Don't forget we passed Christmas and the new year. You'll probably receive a reply soon.
Or are you talking about a mail you sent a long time ago (say more than a week)?

Several, more than a week ago. I have 2 dead G4 modules which ACube have no spares, I have ordered a SAM board but there seems to be a huge wait with no reasonable feedback, I am considering canceling my order and if I can't get my modules fixed I am considering leaving the Amiga scene altogether as I doubt SAM can replace my OS4 experience to date and I don't want to struggle with things any more.

I am just a bit down at the moment but I do feel the feedback to new customers has been extremely poor of late and makes me think why bother.

I understand your feeling :)

Here at IMM, we always warn our customer about their orders as often as we can.

We know how frustrated it can be to not have any informations about orders.

But one thing is really sure :
ACube is not vaporware at all, they just have many request for Sam's boards and they work very hard to provide very good products, so, don't worry about your orders, it will be delivered as soon as they can I think :)

@all here too :
We can deliver products to England, Germany, or Sweden too ! And we sell Minimig's boards and Loriano's Boxes too ;)

Don't hesitate to contact us for any request ;)

Thanks,

Looking at the photograph of the Sam flex aren't they 3.3V PCI slots not 5V?

I would advice you to not cancel your sam-order! We have got three SAMS and they are very good computers... they are silent, small and actually feels very fast! (667mhz)

We have got an amigaONE aswell, but I must admit that I seldom power it up - it is much to noisy, and the overall feeling is better when using the SAM.

I have reversed the information ;)

Effectively, I talked about 3,3V compatible PCI card ;)

Sorry for this :)

Thanks cobber, I am not for one minute bagging SAM, that is not my style, I am sure it is great BUT having lived through all the crap since I bought my A1 it gets very tiring. For instance, of real worry to me is the ability (or non) of SAM to play DVDs properly, I still don't have a complete understanding of this but if it can't then it will always be a toy and should be of real concern to all Amigans in this day and age. I take what others have replied on board and will reflect over the next few days. The lack of news or feedback and inconsistent web pages are still things of great concern.

Seen and want one.
I plan to put 1 GB of memory in it from the start and add a Radeon9250 with 256MB to it.

Later maybe followed by some RadeonHD modell.

Case?
I just rip out the almost dead A1/SE from the tower I have now...

Some good news from m3x (ACube employee) on AmigaWorld, is that they have fulfilled 75% of their Sam440 back orders. So presumably not too much longer wait for you...

BTW, regarding DVD playback problems with DvPlayer on Sam440, it is only for non-Region-0 discs, and is simply due to a DvPlayer bug which should get fixed at some point (see the earlier link). Although I just tried a Region-2 DVD, and it seemed to work, strange! BTW, when we get the non-beta (final) OS4.1 for Sam440, then the bug should not be a problem either.
