A few mounths ago, I installed Final Edition. At the biginning, The video output was HDMI, but some days later, the sceen went black with "no signal" just before the AmigaOs4.1 Final Edition picture appear with no activity from my hard disk led.. So, I decided to pull a VGA video cable on the VGA output and there are no problem... Os4 FE boots and all is all right. When I try to use HDMI output, the boot stops just after I choose AmigaOs4.1 FE in Uboot. I wonder why !? Any help ?
thanks ..... I have the latest radeon HD Drivers.

That's got to be the most bizarre behaviour for graphics output that I've heard so far. The most obvious question is: did you update the driver round the same time that this started happening? Apart from that, did you: - Change any monitor settings round the time that the problem started - Update/install anything round the time that the problem started.
While even less likely, I wonder if a faulty HDMI cable might be able to cause this. AmigaOS tries to read DDC information very early on in the boot process. Corrupt DDC info shouldn't be able to freeze the entire system, but then, neither should plugging in an HDMI monitor.
EDIT: At this stage we can't rule out a faulty card either. A device with a manufacturing defect can work just fine for a few months, and then parts start malfunctioning. Even the best manufacturers will have a few bad units slip through quality control.
Do you have a serial cable that you could connect up to another machine to capture debug info?
I don't have any cable to capture debug, my gfx card works well in a Pc with HDMI port.
Okay, that rules out faulty hardware/cables.

DDCMODE=60Hz
This might be the problem. If your monitor's HDMI DDC info doesn't provide any 60Hz modes, then you're effectively left with no screenmodes at all. Try changing this back to DDCMODE=All
Suggestion: Perhaps the HDMI driver should provide a very basic default screen mode if there are no matching modes.
Something like a default VGA resolution of 1024x768 or 800x600 in either 24 bit or 8 bit? It could even show some sort of overlay that indicates no valid screen modes.
Yup, this is sounding a lot like safe mode on Windows. Run for the hills!!!

That would be the graphics library's job, and the mode already exists; it's called BOOTVGA. However, it gets deleted once the real modes are set. Looks like pseudaxos found a nasty corner case...
Sometimes, when I reboot my Sam, UBoot becomes unreadble. All is all right after kickstarts in early boot. Is it a driver known issue ? Is it a specific problem of UBoot (no links with HD drivers ?)
Thanks
Really strange !!! This morning, I boot my Sam and ........ same problem as before ! No disk activity after loading kickstarts... "NO SIGNAL" I pull DVI=>HDMI in to manage to reach Workbench... I look into my Devs/Monitors/Radeon tootltypes and what a big surprise => The system changed alone the settings !!??
Line disablefakenative=No instead of yes ?? I wonder Why because I don't change anything...
After I put yes for disablefakenative, all is all right and HDMI works ??!!

The AmigaOS driver sets big-endian modes which perform byte swapping. When you reset the machine, UBoot fails to reset the framebuffer's byte-swap register back to the default.
To be honest, I think that this is the fault of the VGABIOS code in the graphics card's ROM. UBoot executes that code (via x86 interpreter), and it's supposed to perform a complete initialization of the card.

Are you sure that you didn't touch the monitor settings tab in ScreenMode prefs? It's rather unusual for settings to just change. I have no idea why disablefakenative=No would cause any trouble.
@Hans, Tonight, I boot my sam and same problem.. The monitors settings haven't change but after earlyboot, Aos4.1 refused to display AmigaOs4.1 Final Edition bootpicture... I must pull a VGA or DVI=>HDMI cable. Every time I shutdown my sam, the HDMI output won't work if I turn on her a few minutes later... If I perform a soft or hard reset without totally sutdown my Sam, Hdmi output continue to display workbench... I really don't understand.. What's the matter ?
