Minimig - Considering to take the plunge
Just popping in
Just popping in

See User information
Now that the Minimig and the arm controller are available again, I need help in identifying the best configuration possible. So far this is what I've found available:

- Minimig 4 MB with 2GB SD card
- Arm controller
- Clear case
- US PSU
- Minimig AC adaptor

Note: I'd like to be able to use an external hard disk drive and a USB hub, is this even possible with the Minimig? and if yes, what do I need to make them work?

So my question is what else do I need to order to get a 100% functional system, ready to plug and play. Please keep in mind that I'm not a coder so I'd need a fully configured system. So again, what do I need to order when buying? Thanks

It is not possible to use an external hard drive nor an USB disk. There is no USB connexion (except the one used by the ARM controller to be programmed).

When you receive your MiniMig, do not hesitate to use an 8 GB card (the ARM controller allows the use of bigger SD cards) to replace the 2GB one.

When formatted in Fat32, you'll be able to create 2 virtuel hard drives (3,9 GB max each). It will be more than enough for an Amiga 500 and will store a lot of WHDLoad games.

With the MiniMig you'll receive (the config you are talking about), you won't need anything else to start having fun with it

No, but its great you have ARM Controller.
It will enable you to emulate hard drive via CF card,
as well as to speed up Minimig.

Quote:
Emulates four floppy drives ŽAdds write support to harddrive and floppy disks
Allow increase of the CPU speed from 7.09 to 49.63 MHz with a 4kb zero waitstate cpu cache
Allows usage of long floppy file names
Allows usage of directories on the SD card
Allows unlimited number of files by directory
Support for 2 HDF files
Fast firmware boot

You can also use old school mouse and joysticks.

Sadly, USB and IDE are no-no.

So you are up to big SD card.
