I get this message trying to "save changes to drive" (partitions, etc.) using HDtoolbox. A4000/40, OS 3.1, Supra scsi controller w/ updated rom... and only on external drives. I haven't been able to find what this error message means. Thanks.

I take it that it worked before?

Which HDToolBox version?

Which FS? (iirc OS3.1 HDToolbox reserved the first two (2)
tracks on every HD to store the FS data, IF you use a second
or even a thrid FS in the RDB, try to up the reserved tracks
to 3 or 4 and see if that cures the problem)

Could be a number of things unfortunately

- SCSI chain nor or wrongly terminated (external drives)
- HDToolBox not or only partly supporting your the controller

of course, i could be completely off the track

Assuming it's a positive 44 (i.e. if it was "Write Error - 44") then it could be a selection timeout (HFERR_SelTimeout is defined as 44).
