@derfs

This is really good news for all 460 users. Now people can use the 4890 with dvi and composition

Oh very interesting... however I am very reluctant to open up my desktop just to get a serial number... very unnecessary.

Should be a news item with a link to a OS4Depot upload.

The agreement with Hans allow us to release the driver only to AmigaOne 500 / Sam460ex owners

Thanks Max, this means more to me than Update 4. I look forward to the eye-candy of having shadowed windows at last and of course all the better games I'll now be able to play - kas1e™

I hope you have some news on the sound drivers in the new year :)

Merry Xmas all at Acube and keep up the good work !

Amazing how overclockable this card is, There have been reports of these things hitting 1ghz core.

Haveing a PassMark rating of 1,936 and 3rd value ranking.

There have also been reports that this card doubles as a heater,** so I'd advise people thinking about overclocking to ensure that they have good cooling first.

Hans

** With a TDP of 190W, it should come as no surprise that it produces a fair amount of heat.

If you're looking for more to take advantage of compositing than just shadowed windows, have a look at Amiboing's games.

Btw, have you in plans adding of overlay support ? Its of course can be not high priority in compare with 3d, but having overlay its always good for video players.

Thanks for the suggestion, forgot about that game. Downloaded the demo, works fine apart from the odd graphic glitch. Played it for a solid hour, gonna have to purchase the full game.

It's on the "would be nice" list, but it's not a priority. Contrary to some people's opinions, overlay isn't a small thing that can be implemented quickly. It's several times more complicated than it need be, and there are holes in the documentation. Overlay isn't the magic cure-all for video that people think it is. It's also kind of obsolete, with textured video taking its place on most systems.

So, don't expect overlay support any time soon. I have actually said this multiple times before, but this question keeps on coming back.

What do you mean by "odd graphic glitch?"

Well in the demo version underneath the menu items there is rubbish shown and when I click on the map to place or alter a 'defense' - the top half of the circle that is drawn is fine - but the 50% of the bottom half of the circle has some rubbish shown - hmm just thought - I'll run it in windowed mode then I upload to flickr.

In the meantime I have tried to join up to amiboing.de, but I've been waiting 2 days now for the confirmation link. I have emailed them directly no reply as yet so I can't tell you with its in the release version.
