Hi all

Just downloaded and installed new RadeonHD 2D driver and here's my results

SAM 460 with 2GB or RAM, 1000GB HD, 4 port SATA, DVDRW drive and Radeon HD 4650 GFX card.

Wow look at those DMA writes! Almost 800MB/s. Getting close to the theoretical 1GB/s limit on a 4x Gen 1 interface.

I think you're looking at the wrong bar, iirc the Write Pixel Array result of 740.05 is for copying internally on the card. Copy to VRAM 296.64 is a better judge of how fast data is shifted to the card. It doesn't matter how fast it can shift stuff internally if the loading speed is slow.

Btw, my results are: Copy to VRAM 447.79, Write Pixel Array 404.32 on a 512mb 4850. bHmmm... as I can fill it faster than it can move it I wonder if they fitted an averflow? I'd better check the bottom of my case to see if it's flooded with pixels

I wouldn't know if those figures were good or bad, just the result I got! Graphics seem a little faster/smoother or is it my imagination?

No, the Write Pixel Array result is for copying a buffer from RAM to VRAM using the DMA unit (on 440/460 CPU)

Will this driver work on a SAM440EP Flex 733Mhz if I buy a newer PCI graphics card such as this one here:

Best to ask Aeon I guess!

As there has been no mention of these drivers working on Sam440, I think best to assume it won't work (until we are told otherwise). However, if you are feeling rich, then feel free to take a chance that it will somehow work!

LOL! Rich?!Oh yeah, its a requirement to be into Amigas isnt it

The graphics card is £50 buy itself off eBuyer, and I hardly use my Amigas any more so I dont think Ill invest for now, perhaps in the future when its confirmed it will work though :)

yes, it should work with an adapter from PCI to PCIX, the user Spectre660 has a 6xxx series in his SamFLEX with the adapter, check on Amigaworld forum post n.20 here:

The card in the link above is actually PCI so there would be no need for an adapter or a PCIe version of the card :)

Spectre660 is using a 6570, which doesn't exist as a PCI card. He's using a PCI to PCIe bridge card. IIRC, he found one with the PEX8112 bridge chip like I recommended.

There are a few PCI cards, but they are limited to the lowest end models (e.g., the 6350).

IIRC the bridge chip works on PCI 33Mhz speed.
Have you found any working 66Mhz version?

I don't know where you got that from. The PEX 8112 bridge chip supports up to 66 MHz PCI buses.

I thought the card was this:

"Supporst PCI 32 bit 33MHz bus "

In that case you'll have to ask him exactly which card he used. I thought that he had told me that he found a bridge card with a PEX 8112 on it, in which case it would be 66 MHz capable.

thank you
