Is there a continued email app for amigaos4 available?
Preferably with imap support?

One that doesn't rely on a bloated package beneath it (i.e. amicygnix)?

I know of YAM (which i stopped using years ago because of discontinuity and back then still missing imap) and simplemail (which i don't know at all)

Reason is that my mail provider finally locked out Odyssey from using their website directly (and i'm fed up finding the correct hoops to jump through to get it to work for the next few weeks, like spoofing, js usage etc.)

Of course it would be best to get an update to Odyssey, but that too would only be a temporary fix and won't happen soon anyway...if ever.

Thank you for all hints

SimpleMail is half decent with sluggish OS4 support AFAIK,
has some imap support, but not oauth 2.0 support so google mail with imap still doesn't work (I think, I might have done something wrong there).

I've been using SimpleMail for some time now; IMAP support is fine for me. The only issue has been with some providers needing two-stage authentication. I would need to use a PC to get through the second stage, and then all would be well. For Yahoo! I had to have it generate a specific password for SimpleMail.

As time goes forward this is going to get worse and worse.

SimpleMail works with GMail if you set GMail to use less secure authentication. However, both the OS3 and OS4 versions crash for me while syncing the inbox for the first time. It's potentially a size-related thing, or maybe a particular mail is malformed, but it's essentially unusable for me. Worth trying though in case it works better with your mail setup.

This way doesn’t get nightly builds, if built over night and no one has tested it, what is the use.

Did you read my post entirely?
Especially the second paragraph?

Thank you guys...

So, no real solution to this...maybe I'll try simplemail...if I get some spare time.

Keep your suggestions coming, if there are more, that is.

Has anyone tried simple mail with iCloud (Apple)? I tried it some years ago, maybe it's worth to try again wit a newer version.

Ooops, sorry, just overlooked that line :-/
BTW I don't use it quite frecuently, but AmiCygnix is a very very package/system, I use it when needing GIMP "fetaures".

Then only solution AFAIK seems simplemail if web mail doesn't work for you.

If you know someone trustworthy yahoo.de still has pop3 access as far as I know. Let someone create a account for you and you set a new password or use google translate.

The problem is not pop3.
My email provider does have that still, but they changed their online access with browsers which stopped working using Odyssey.

Well you could also let a Linux machine fetch'em for you and setup a mail server to use odyssey. It's a little tedious but longevity is guaranteed.

Sure, there are dozens of possibilities, but I'd like to keep it a one machine solution (at least one machine running at the time).

But thank you for the hints

After receiving my new AmigaOne X5000 I also thought about which mail program to choose.
For a quick run I tried 'Sylpheed' under Edgar Schwan's 'AmiCygnix'. I must admit I am not that familiar with Linux but apart from that: Yes, IMAP worked but often the program 'freezes' for few seconds. I did not feel good with it...

So, as a native alternative I gave SimpleMail a try. But Imust say: It is not useable. Yes, for my freenet account, IMAP worked. But it crashed so often! Every time a new mail came in: crash. And so on. So I would say: Try 'Sylpheed', maybe you can handle it better. Or, if IMAP is not a must-have, then of course YAM is fine. But if you can access MorphOS as well, then the best solution is 'Iris'. I have never experienced such an easy set up of my account. Absolutely fantastic.

AmigaOne X5000 @ 2GHz / 4GB RAM / Radeon RX 550 / AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition / MorphOS 3.17
Amiga1200 / Blizzard 1230 IV PiStorm32-lite / AmigaOS 3.9

I would not say it is working fine on OS4 :
- browsing with keyboard is broken
- contact list is broken (guru when adding someone + saving)
- mbox export is broken (guru) meaning you can not export your mails to something more recent like the email clients provided by Cygnix...

it is my mail client since a long time and it is useable but would not state "working fine" !
