060 emulation is only possible without jit... the only way for have a real speed without jit enable will be use a G4 1.67ghz or an X1000 (problably)
I make some test with and without jit:
Right now without jit enabled you can have a 040 with fpu and all cache enabled on Xe 933 my best speed is 18mips (040@25mhz)...look like this new version is more faster compared with before version about 3x ... probably thanks to the last sdk.
With Jit enabled with an Xe 933 i have a 040 running at 38mips (060@50mhz)... im really courious to see how much will run Euae on my Peggy G4 1.266mhz i presume will be more of 50mips (060@75mhz)
When will done will be really fun!
PS: i test many games without jit and in rtg mode and...
DoomAttack rtgmaster c2p040 is great running
Quake is more playable compared with a reall amiga with a 040 and a Graphic board.
The same i have with AlienBreed 3d II with Rtg patch..
The virtual disk access (folders in os4) is 10x more faster compared with an Acard on CyberstormPPC with a 060@66mhz...
With Jit enabled... if the program is compatible and not crash the system become really really ultra fast!
My test and bugs of jit:
I know this an alfa version of Jit and i know will need work on it ... but this are the problem i found.
Jit = Ecs..
with the jit enabled the Workbench run in Ecs mode.
I test some programs running on workbench and you will have the max 32 colors
A doom look like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k99bqzuayaANote:this problems are only in workbench mode if you run an whdload or an adf AGA works
Key timing ... pushing a key on keyboard "in workbench" ...
make the key will repeted more times.
This problems are the same with an amiga 4000 with the timer circuit dead ... HC chips not working
Aga games works from floppy but workbench go max in 32colors 320x256
BoingBag 2 on os 3.9 is not compatible.. with and without jit.
Another big bug... if is possible fix the copy procedure inside the sys folder (if sys is a shared rw amigaos folder) ... because crashing the system and lock the dvd/cdrom units on the physical ide device
