I've installed the two codecs and now I get an error: "Error opening stream 'DVD Menu' and after, same error with all video files available in the DVD ...

@TiredOfLife & Swoop Thanks for the info, I had not installed all the required files.
However, I can now confirm Freddix's report that installing the new dvdvcd.plugin file causes DvPlayer to crash upon opening any DVD (on my Sam440 with the latest registered DvPlayer).
Without that plugin it just hangs & eventually reports the Menu error that Freddix mentions above, on non-R0 discs.
edit: I have a Lite-On LH-20A1L dvd-rw drive.
(Obviously I am somewhat disappointed, as I was under the impression that I'd be able to watch most DVDs.)
DvPlayer does not recognise DVD menus. Some DVD's start from the 'Open DVD/VCD' menu item, and some you have to use the file selector (bottom right on GUI), and add each vob file to the playlist. DvPlayer is the result of just one person's work, and Stephen has other projects on the go as well. It is amazing that DvPlayer performs as well as it does.
1. The DVD/VCD plugin that comes as standard with DvPlayer does not support css-encrypted DVDs for obvious legal reasons, therefore many commercial DVDs will simply not work with it. You should not get a crash though.
2. The 3rd party plugin based on mplayer's device code and libdvdcss (the one on OS4depot) has some bug, and crashes not only on the Sam, but also on an A1 if you use a debug kernel (which catches some bugs the normal kernel does not). I think the OS4.1 Sam CD contains a debug kernel, because it's beta. Not surprisingly the problem also exists with mplayer itself, and Andrea Palmate' is working on fixing it.
I have a Sam with installed Beta from me dealer. Free DVDs and ohter video formats is no Problem. DVPlayer works fine.
If i want to play commercial DVDs i get the Error DVD stream is nor supported.
So i install the cssdvd lib from OS4depot. But now, when i will play the DVD i get an DSI Error. Thats it. Nothing more.
So i read you have some similar problems. Is there a solution iin the Moment? Does it better work with the full version of DVPlayer? Or must i wait for a DVPlayer Version spezialy for Sam? Stephen told me that it must run. But i have no idea what the real problem is.
@afxgroup While I try to avoid "me too" posts, I am certainly looking forward to seeing a fix, even if it isn't entirely DvPlayer's fault (OS4.1 debug kernel).
that's strange. because it doesn't happens to all people.. By the way, today i've compiled a working version of mplayer that correct that bug. hope also the plugin is not affected anymore by that bug. By the way you have to wait some time because i want to release also a new version of mplayer.
