don't u know how work has been made in these days.. and we have today other updates that you don't have atm in the OS4 Final. The road is really long. and the jingle is really the last thing that the Dev mus be take care of.... So.. today is a great day.. enjoy os4 and wait for the other stuffs.. now pls... INSTALL A COMPILER and DEVELOP SOFTWARE!!!!!!!!!
I agree with you Andrea, but if there are other updates, why Hyperion release OS4 final 2-3 days ago ?
Off course I know that Christmas is a good date to release something but maybe if they takes at least 1 mounth of extra work on it maybe after that we can have a complete installation with AmigaInput, PowerPC.library and so on, not to mention other very important component like SNAP ...
This is only my opinion :-/
P.S. Is there any news about the other OS4 software project like AmiUpdate, MooVid 1.7, MUI4 ? Is there any chance to see them as contributions or maybe in a future BoingBag ?
P.P.S. I would like to thanks Hyperion-Entertainment and the other developers/betatester for their fantastic efforts on AmigaOS 4.0
PNG icons support was not built-in in purpose: it's an add-on, as PNG images are not a good replacement for the Amiga icon format. For instance, they lack the selected image (unless playing dirty tricks).
There was a big request for PNG support, so it was added as an "unofficial extension".
We need a better icon format, not the old one, nor PNG.
This is either going to be for an update, or more likely 4.1, when hopefully Workbench will be ... taken care of, Pulp Fiction style!

My A-One seems to run without it. What does powerpc.lib do BTW ?
If I was the one releasing OS4 I would not have said that 'it IS done', and kept it at 'the last prerelease before', but..... sigh....
Removing sub-par components is absolutely the correct decision and shows strong leadership. It isn't as if the OS4 team purposely wanted to remove components. Besides, there will be further updates and more components in future releases anyway.
It is absolutely critical that software projects end. The pre-release series (V51) is over. This is V52 now (check with the version command) and there was a promise for a final pressing made by "HyperionMP" over at AW.net.
Start TypeManager, click on CGTimes, click on Modify, click on the Files tab, have a look at the font file gadget, it tells you that the raw font file is not CGTimes.type (interpreted by bullet.library) anymore but FONTS:_truetype/DejaVuSerif.ttf (interpreted by ft2.library). The advantage is that CGTimes now contains an Euro sign :)

I'd like to add my voice to that. If you don't have access to OS4 yet, you can develop on OS3.x for now. The more active developers we have the better, even if many of them are rookies still learning how it's done.
