I see the price includes VAT, I’m assuming the VAT is taken off, and Norwegian import VAT is added, so I don’t have to pay double VAT, or how does that work, (I’m assuming the price will be about the same.)

I also registered my interest for an A1X1k at Amigakit. As far as I remember, there currently is no USB 2.0 highspeed support in OS 4.x (not to mention USB 3.0).
Also last time I looked there only was support for 10 mBit network cards. But maybe this was for OS 4.1 classic. No support for 100 mBit cards (not to mention gigabit cards).
About half a year ago some tried to convince me, that I would not notice the speed difference between USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 highspeed (at least not in my A4kPPC). But for me the speed difference between my new Deneb USB 2.0 in Zorro III and the SpiderUSB 2.0 in Mediator was huge and easy to notice. Last weekend I had the chance to see the speed difference between USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 highspeed in an old x86 WinXP PC that someone donated to my Mum. The MoBo originally only came with USB 1.1. As the DVD also didn't work I had to connect my ext. hardisk to the USB port. Copying or installing via USB 1.1 was incredibly slow. Then I found an USB 2.0 pci card that I had laying around. I fitted it and it worked like a charme. And please - noone ever come again and tell me the speed difference would not be obvious. This myth is busted now!
And I suspect the same is valid for the speed difference between 10 mBit and 100 mBit cards .
Before I make my final buying decision, I'd like to know the current situation, as I don't want to go back from USB 2.0 highspeed in my good old Amiga 4000 PPC with OS 3.9 to USB 1.1 in AmigaOne X1000 with OS 4.2. I also don't want to make the annoying 10 mBit experience after having 100 mBit in my Amiga 4000 PPC with OS 3.9 and the oh-so-inferior-Mediator-hack-solution. I prefer the 100 mBit oh-so-inferior-Mediator-DMA-hack-solution in my Amiga 4000 PPC with OS 3.9 over the clean 10 mBit support on an A1X1k with OS 4.2 any time...
So what's the current situation? Are USB 2.0 highspeed (or even USB 3.0) and 100 mBit NICs meanwhile supported in in the latest updates of OS 4.1? And how about satisfying native printer support? Or does at least TurboPrint v7.1 run with OS 4.1 and so allow for flawless printing?

Whoever said that you wouldn't notice the difference between USB 1.1 and USB 2 was either trying to convince themself, or they were lying. :) Seriously, 35MB/s is waaaay faster than 1.5MB/s, you'd notice that as soon as you did anything.
It's possible that they were talking about classic Amigas, where the CPU may be a bottleneck and stop you using the full speed of USB 2, but even on my Deneb there's a big difference between the 6MB/s USB 2 and 1.5MB/s USB 1.1.
And yes, USB2 and 100Mb ethernet have been supported for some time now....
I've even had USB2 and 100MB lan working on my AmigaOne XE! The LAN was 100 MB out of the box on the old A1's. I added a USB2 PCI card back when update 3 or 4 added support for USB2.

1Gb/s is also (sort of) available; there is an RTL8169 driver, although it doesn't in practice deliver full Gigabit speed, but still faster than the 100Mb/s RTL8139. The 1Gb/s ethernet port in the Sam460 is also supported (IIRC).

Dandy USB2.0 has been implemented since Update 4. Check out this thread to see all the devices that work fine under OS4.1 update 5
Not 100%. I used to have irrecoverable crashes with TP7.1 and OS4x on my XE when printing a plain text file. Graphic dumps worked OK but text files alsways locked up the system. The problem was never resolved AFAIK.
I now use an HP Photosmart on my XE and X1000 using the HP_Photosmart driver on OS4 Depot. So do not use TP at the moment.
Thanks to all for the replies. It seems that USB, connectivity speed and TurboPrint are no problem.
But how is the situation for other things - is there e.g. a way to use all my SCSI periphery devices with the A1X1k?
Currently I use SCSI exclusively in my A4kPPC - HDs, CD & DVD Rom/RW, tape streamer and scanner. My SCSI chain consists of both - UW-SCSI (68 pin) and SCSI-II (50 pin).
Up to now I haven't heard of anyone producing UW-SCSI host adaptor cards for the A1X1k/OS 4.x - correct me, if I'm wrong.

There are divers for a SCSI controller, don’t remember model or manufacture at the moment, all drivers are in sys:kickstart directory so it should be easy for someone how has there system booted to check, I think the kickstart model name starts whit it*, it probably only works for PCI, anyway SCSI is on the way out, unless you’re taking about SAS.
SATA3 is what is common in newer PC’s (6 Gbits/s), I think AmigaONE-X1000 has SATA2 (3 Gbits/s). UWSCSI (80MB/sec = 640mbits/s)
Anyway what software do you use for your scanner?

I just built a new Windows 7 (don't get me started about 8) box with an ASRock board and AMD A10 Trinity Quad APU at 4.2 Ghz and overclocked memory. The HD is a WD Black 1 TB SATA3, as is the AMD D4 Northbridge SATA3.
In normal usage running office programs, I can' tell the difference between this computer and her previous AMD Phenom Quad which was Sata 2, and a Ghz slower on the clock speed.
Both have Disk swapping shut off, with 8GB of memory in the older one, and 16 GB in the newer one.
I imagine you'd need to be into gaming or intensive video work to really notice an improvement.

When I transitioned to A1 with my old XE, I still had a SCSI scanner and some hard drives sitting around, so I looked into getting a PCI card, but eventually just got new hardware instead.
But here's a link from a long time ago which might be helpful for you. Amigans SCSI discussion
I know it's about the older boards, not the X1000. But it's the OS which determines the SCSI abilities, not the hardware. So as long as the driver is in OS4.x, you should be OK.
Also this line from an old A.org fvorum:
Quote:
53C8xx chips are/were built/used by NCR, Symbios Logic, LSI and some 3rd party el cheapos. The chips are somewhat - but not fully - downward compatible to old drivers.
As noted previously, most of this is from the early A1-SE/XE days. I can't verify if the scsi module is still in the bootup of OS4.1, since I'm not at home with my Amiga. But I know mine boots up with a message about SCSI (not being found, in my case). So I assume the module is still available at bootup if needed.
I Hope this helps.
